This is a very interesting point. Thank you for saying it, it made me look this up.Women of all races fare better than their male counterparts because men are not meant to learn by sitting still in a classroom.
How Boys’ Learning Styles Differ (and How We Can Support Them)Our culture at large needs to do more to support boys and their unique hardwiring in educational settings. Although my sons have the advantage of great teachers and a nationally respected school district, the structure of our educational system does not favor boys’ unique learning styles. For those with financial and geographical barriers to accessing educational support services (tutoring, etc.), the circumstances are much more grim. We, as a nation, are failing our young men in the area of educational support. And we need to change that.
Studies utilizing PET scans and MRIs show that boys learn very differently than girls. One of the pioneers studying gender learning-style differences, Michael Gurian, reports several key factors differentiating girl/boy learning:
- Boys show more areas in the brain dedicated to spatial-mechanical strengths, whereas girls generally demonstrate a focus on verbal-emotive processing.
- Girls are generally hardwired to be less impulsive, enabling them to sit still, focus, read, and write at an earlier age than boys.
- Boys are often misdiagnosed with learning disabilities and attention-deficit issues when educators are not aware of the delicate neurology of the male developing brain.
- Boys’ brains need more rest times during a day of learning. When bored, boys tend to “zone out” more than girls and require rest periods before reengaging in learning.
- Boys are hardwired to be single-task focused, whereas girls’ hardwiring demonstrates strength in multitasking. Transitions are more difficult for boys due to this lateralization of the brain versus typical female cross communication of brain hemispheres.
- Less oxytocin in the brain of males leads to more aggression and playful rough-housing. Girls, on the other hands, are more predisposed to cooperative negotiation, have a much easier time with impulse control, and can sit “criss-cross-apple-sauce” in the reading circle with ease. Many boys have a difficult time sitting still to hear the teacher’s story, as they are movement-driven (kinesthetic) in their learning process (research and findings cited from Gurian, 2006).
That's not what this study stated breh. I kid you not the amount of dumbass nikkas and sistas who cannot read or comprehend befuddled me.This follows last year's study regarding Black wealth, and ties in perfectly.
Black middle and upper class people who decide to continue to reside in lower-income Black communities fare far worse, have a much more explicit issue with education achievement gaps, are still far more likely to face incarceration and abuse at the hands of the justice system, and basically bleed any wealth they may have because of plummeting housing values and little access to jobs. Black fathers, alongside Black mothers, are necessary.
A key point is that there are far more likely to be professional and successful Black men in an area where you have Black fatherhood at a high-rate; successful Black fathers are far more likely to be present.
And @String Bell no one said Black men are "privileged" the claim is that Black men have a privilege courtesy of their being Black (lower sexual abuse rates, lower domestic violence rates, sex-trafficking is less of a danger, higher pay than their female counterparts in many fields, etc.) The trade-off for Black men is that due to poverty, violence is endemic.
Reading is fundamental.
While its important, it states that these are locations that Black people don't score as extremely racist. It's clear as day, Black fathers present has more to do with white supremacy more than sistas or brothas are leading on. The most racist, the more likely to see single parenthood. White supremacy is hand in hand with Black failure. The biggest take away for me was the part about black boys doing better in areas where there are a lot of black fathers, even the ones that don't have fathers.
Being fatherless is literally the worst thing you can inflict on a young boy and people still haven't realized this.
I find it to be less obvious as I went to school at a white area from a Black area. What I noticed was:This is the part that interests me more than anything.
It's been documented well enough that Black women are surpassing Black men when it comes to higher eduction. I'm seeing as much personally just looking at my own and other departments. I work in a large office building and I see FAR more Black women making strides professionally than I do Black men.
That's what piques my curiosity more than anything. What's the difference between young Black men and women causing the latter to seemingly excel past the former? To be even more specific, I'm especially curious about the differences between the two minus the typical oppression talking points. That's not to completely disregard how Black men are viewed and treated in society, so don't get me wrong. Still though, beyond Black women, why are some Black men doing okay while others fall behind? I might catch some flack for this, but I believe there's only so much that can be blamed on this society at a certain point.
The issue is too many middle class brothers want to be street dudes. Hell a black man from a middle class area is clowned for it sometimes.

Yessa boss whites mans ice is colder then a black mans ice looking ass c00ns in this threadI try to tell them that there is no such thing as a Black middle class and there is barely an upper Black class...
When you own less than 5 percent of wealth in the entire nation and you been here like the second longest...
Your million dollars in the bank is different from the White man's million dollars...

They don't@String Bell I'd rather black feminists stayed out of this thread they don't care about us. so this is not their buisness.
And as much as these white/asian/indian kids are arguing against affirmative action at top academic institutions, black people need to start arguing against legacy admissions because it is giving these average and mediocre rich white kids a back door into these top academic institutions and therefore access to a very powerful network, when, all things considered, they wouldn't qualify to get in without that legacy clause.
So you gonna let these "studies" and cacs stop you? That's what they want you to do....quit and not be shyt. Refuse to give them the satisfaction. We are used to always having to do more than our counterparts. shyt ain't nothing new. Education is something NO ONE can take away from you...take advantage of it and treat it seriously in your household. And truth be told, companies DO like having diversity. Now when it gets to those higher positions, it's definitely something that is harder, but it's not impossible.
Look at all the brothers throughout history who found a way to be successful in times much worse than we have today. fukk all that defeatist attitude and mentality shyt.
