I wonder how much it cost to make Elmatic
His career. It was a wrap after that. I remember him hinting at a Madlib collab album shortly afterwards but he didn't do shyt. Ellmatic was dope and got him some nice buzz, but he needed to release an original project within a few months to a year in order to capitalize. Dude just disappeared...

I've heard his manager is a snake. Got his head gassed up with non music shyt that never pans out. There are so many dope Detroit producers that it shouldn't be hard to drop an album...

How is that a terrible opinion? I have given receipt after receipt to demonstrate why Rocky is a better rapper than Elzhi.

Meanwhile, you guys just post gifs and say 'terrible opinion' but never elaborate. And I'm the one that doesn't know shyt? :dahell:

This is the problem with hip hop. Fake ass, fake-deep "real hip hop" fans who like music based off name recognition, branding and association instead of analyzing the music for what it is. Ironically, they're dikkriders in the same way that pop casual fans dikkride.

I'm the only one in this debate posting receipts. naming specific tracks. From BOTH dudes catalogs. And good examples of what people consider their best or memorable shyt.

Y'all don't even know Rocky's catalog, what fans consider to be his best shyt and why... You just saw a dress on 106 and Park and thought: 'he can't rap! He's not using lots of multis' :mjlol:

And you of all people should know better. I checked your ass in the Nas thread and caught you slippin numerous times when we were debating Alchemist. Here you were debating Alchemist and giving him credit for tracks he didn't do :mjlol:And I had to correct you a number of times in that debate.

yet again, I have the terrible opinion.

breh im 100% sure i know rocky's catalog better than you

you have your set of standards that differ from 95% of the civil world

and that's fine :manny:

when you're sitting in your home all comfy with your headphones on judging music, that's one way to do it

a lot of people like to listen to music with friends and acquaintances, get a good feel for how the music moves people

you just don't have that experience so your opinion, while not objectively bad, is skewed from what most hip hop heads feel

you're one of the few on the far end of the bell curve

a lone wolf

an immovable object

a monolith, if i may

won't allow any input from others, just your perfect, uncanny ear as the judge of a rapper's life and death

fukk outta here :camby:

but happy new year ya filthy bish

I hear ya, but it's possible to make music on the level of the 90s and maybe even superceed it.

I didn't think it was possible till Yams/Rocky/Clams Casino did it.

Rocky's rhymes are nowhere close to great 90s rap but in terms of the super important stuff like creative, hard beats and engaging flow, he's on par.
Yeesh SirBiatch. You're starting to sound like the stans that you bash regularly.

You realize there's more to rapping than being lyrical, right? Way more?

Again, if you've read my arguments instead of just jumping to "OMG! he thinks Rocky better than Elzhi. I must mention lyricism!" you'd know I never mentioned lyricism whatsoever.

elzhi's flow is smoother than rockys

he's more aggressive with his delivery

his rhyme patterns are more intricate

his content is more well rounded

he's not as good in interviews though, rocky and schoolboys back and forth is straight comedy

but that's not a facet of rap :francis:

I disagree. Have you heard Rocky on Leaf when he starts that "I'm sick and tired" part? or even how he sounds when "see me in the hood gangstas say wassup.... . hey!" when Wassup starts. Rocky glides on tracks my dude. Blends with the instrumental and almost becomes it.

Elzhi has never been that smooth.

he's more aggressive with his delivery

disagree. Elzhi doesn't make aggressive music and his voice isn't aggressive.

You think he's aggressive because he's relentless. Like I said, he doesn't take pauses so he just keeps hitting you with bars. That's not aggressive delivery. Aggressive delivery is the emotion you use to rhyme. SKINNY nikka, PRETTY FLACKO! That's aggressive delivery. It's not the most aggressive delivery in the world (before y'all start deflecting), but it's more aggressive than Elzhi that's for sure.

his rhyme patterns are more intricate

his content is more well rounded

OK. I'll give you both of these. Intricacy of rhyme patterns doesn't mean shyt to me. Variety of content is certainly a great thing. But that implies you have compelling flow and fantastic beats. THEN variety of content separates you from those that just have flow and fantastic beats. E.g. what separates a Nas from a Snoop. Both have compelling flows and fantastic beats. But Nas talks about more shyt. So one could argue that Nas is a better rapper than Snoop.

Elzhi has neither a compelling flow nor great beats. That alone keeps him far beneath Rocky.

bad examples because Phonte outshined him on both songs.

That's the point. I don't even think Phonte's that amazing when you compare him to a Nas but he's obviously a better and more interesting rapper than Elzhi. His voice is more flexible, emotive, he says more interesting and unique shyt than Elzhi and has the catalogue to prove it.
