No matter what degree or career field you're in, if you are good, you'll be alright. Hard work pays off, be committed with your craft and stay at it, good things will come.

With our economy it will be hard to find work, but if you don't give up and you are really good at what you do, than you can persevere and find your niche.

I agree with this thread 100%.

All the college educated friends I have who are unemployed have liberal arts degrees..SHOCKER.

My father told me if I was not going to get a math, science or engineering degree I should not go to college...best advice I ever had.

I'm thinking of going back to school to get into culinary. I got mad recipes from my moms I'd like to expand on and open a food truck slanging Mexican food.

If it don't work, fukk it. YOLO :yeshrug:

This is not always true. Many people go to school, are great at what they do, and typically die with nothing or without recognition.

You are an acception not the rule.

Liberal arts degree= Idk wtf I wanna do :manny:

I can appreciate your fathers sentiment and guidance and I agree.... to an extent. I think college should be a place where you go to get a "skill" that is marketable in the work force. College has turned into a 2nd highschool where you get a degree in something you are kinda interested in or you get a degree in something too vague that offers no real skillset (i.e.business). I am not trying to knock anyone for whatever degree they have, but if it's not marketable, but you really wanna study it- dont be surprised when you have no job.

However, If one wants to get an art degree, thats fine. As long as they are aware of the market and the L they may take from their choice.

I honestly believe that we are getting to a place where college isnt going to equal employment. Hell, we are there now. I know folks with business degrees out of work. Folks with Engineering degrees out of work. I dont think this economy is discriminatory.

You should go to school to hone your skills for work not some hobby bullsh!t in basket weaving which has been dressed and sold for an inflated price in the name of "art degree" :comeon:

What exactly does a liberal art student bring to the corporate world?:wtf:

True, but if basket weaving is their "passion" then they should go for it.

Liberal arts degrees usually = teachers.

They essentially bring nothing to the corporate world. But not everybody wants to work in corporate. :yeshrug:
