Colleges should slash their tuition down to a third. Scamming people is too much.
The rate of college tuition will eventually stop this ridiculous inflation once jobs that don't exactly require a college degree are in demand once again.

The problem is that people still feel like paying damn near $500 per credit is worth it for EVERYONE. That is simply NOT the case as there are SEVERAL ways to make wealth in this country

Word. It's like being self-sufficient is being ousted like analog tv signals. My homie's wife got 2 masters degrees and is head of security at a university, making way more bank that she would as a teacher.

The fukk is wrong with the world? :mindblown:

I agree with this thread 100%.

All the college educated friends I have who are unemployed have liberal arts degrees..SHOCKER.

My father told me if I was not going to get a math, science or engineering degree I should not go to college...best advice I ever had.

Agreed.
Im hopefully getting my B.S in IT by 2015

Art degrees aren't a complete waste though. You learn valuable critical thinking, research and writing skills(especially if we're talking about something like English). Those skills can transfer well to other occupations.

If I'm not really making cake like that, I'll probably have to hit up everest college or some shyt so I can get a certification and be thrown into an industry as soon as I graduate.

Society disappoints me. Those who are naturally and instinctively drawn to the arts are looked down upon, and shunned in the working world, and have to force themselves to grind through another field just for a chance and financial stability.
Lets not pretend like none of the folks going into those fields just chose the path of least resistance to a degree.

You have people who had zero interest in arts/history in HS going into said fields in college. "Come on, son."

I think we need artists and historians in society. But not in the numbers that we are producing them. And in any case having a degree in art/history doesn't necessarily make you an artist/historian.

US is up against hungry + smart Asians. We need to get competitive in relevant fields- STEM fields.

True, but if basket weaving is their "passion" then they should go for it.

Liberal arts degrees usually = teachers.

They essentially bring nothing to the corporate world. But not everybody wants to work in corporate. :yeshrug:
Again, what % of people with art degrees followed their passion vs just went with the easiest way to a degree?

People who go into harder fields don't finish if their heart isn't in it. On the flip side, you have to try pretty hard to flunk out of something like an art or communications major.

It's what I'd do on the one-off chance I decide to have children.

Don't worry maybe one of the condoms you are wearing while on one of your many sexual escapades will break and your seed will find its way into some whores belly. And if said whore doesn't get an abortion you might have yourself a Ramdam Jr running around. :shaq:

I have a Bachelor's in TV and radio that I received from a CUNY school. I have no debt and I'm currently working as a tech op for a local news station. Even though I'm not making as much money as I would working at a high profile station I've been employed going on five years and my savings account is very healthy. I'm also pursuing a masters in business management.

Can you get more in depth on your story

Did you have a career plan early on? Did you do any kind of internships/co-ops? Are other folks you graduated with doing as well? Did you utilize social media at all to elevate your profile etc?

I agree these bullshyt bisexual degrees is why they end up working at Starbucks. The US is declining and a part of this is due to the fact that there are more a$$holes getting these irrelevant queer degrees instead of sht like engineering. That's why silicon valley is full of ppl from India. Chinese and Indians don't give a sht about art history or graphic design. STEM degrees >>>>

Half of the arts degree folks went to college because they were being forced to go to school by parents etc.., so they went in there with the sole intention of getting an easy degree. They had no interested in challenging themselves.

I agree. But they are assed out in the end if they borrowed money for a degree that they arn't interested in. :snoop:
