no doubt. the other issue is there are a lot of "artists" out there who should be designers. and a lot of "designers" who should be artists. i am a designer and like the restrictions and revisions for a goal and whatever, not attached to my product. but some designers get :sadbron: when they're asked revise or change like they're artists. and then there's artists who have no idea of what art is and would be much better just using their skills to execute other peoples needs, i.e., design.

Mos def. But i was sort of lucky enough to know exactly what kind of art i wanted to do since i was a kid. I watched a RIDICULOUS amount of television growin up and I actually had a pretty artistic family. Moms did everything she could to nurture mah artistic cravings. Whether it was puttin me in art classes/camps during da summer, takin me to museums, buying me art books, alladat shyt. I was always great at creating worlds and da characters who lived in em. Dat's all i ever wanted to do. lol so dat's what i'm doin now for a living. :pachaha: :yeshrug:

I know how lucky I am and I dont take what i do for granted ever. Because I know i could easily have been born without dat "gene" and ended up in some shirt n tie, sittin at a cubicle crunching numbers or somethin like so many people.

Sorry I think got a lil off track wit dat response, but in regards to ya post. Yeah some people have a hard time seperating demselves from their work. But i look at it like dis, you can do what's requested of you without totally compromising your own stamp on it. Folks just gotta understand at da end of da day it's still a job. You can always do your own shyt, your own way when work is ova. Dere's been plenty of times where i've submitted shyt to an AD and was like :jawalrus: only to find out da "suits" want to go in another direction. :shaq2:

One of da things dat sucks when being a professional artist, especially one like myself who works for studios wit a lot of money pouring into a project(film/game) is dat so many artistic decisions aren't being made by artists.....dey're made by corporate mufukkas who dont know shyt about actual art. Dat shyt can be a fukkin headache sometimes. :aicmon:

Medical field will always be the best choice finance wise, i recommend some of you focus on that. Xray technicians make up to 55,000 a year,

I recommend you focus on something that will give you financial stability so that if you do have a dream to pursue something in arts you will have the finance to back it up which is what i am doing currently

not directed at you, but I fell into this shyt and love being just as good or better than people who spent their whole life working for it. :pachaha:

i work in fashion marketing. it does suck when you have to execute some evp's bullshyt idea for some overfunded campaign. but i am a designer but not an artist so :yeshrug:

Also, did any of you idiots shytting on arts degrees consider the fact that maybe some of those people are getting good networking opportunities in their fields?

At the same time though, we'll cry and complain about the deterioration of the arts and culture in our society

I agree. Not everyone has the ability to do IT or Accounting or becoming a Doctor. We need more scientists, but there are people that are artistically gifted and can't just do what makes money at the moment.

Colleges should slash their tuition down to a third. Scamming people is too much.
