The angst against the Heat for having a pep rally in their own city was the dumbest outburst of sports anger I've seen in recent years.
The Heat management put on a big PR show around THEIR FANS to build excitement around THEIR FAN BASE and the media perverted it into a showcase of black arrogance as if that was meant for everyone.
I swear, I have never seen such a retarded sports world as we do now. And the internet and people with stupid opinions has been nothing but an accelerant for the explosion of stupidity.
I don't even think the welcoming ceremony though is what pissed people off. It was the proclamation of it being so easy that Pat Riley could start a point guard. And that they were just going to keep winning titles.
By deciding to go to Miami Lebron thrust himself out of the underdog status to taking the easy way out. The media loves the narrative or a player taking a bad team and turning them into champions. So you can't act like Lebron was just an innocent bystander. He handled the situation entirely wrong and you can't knock the backlash to it.
Iverson was 100% right. I think part of the Lebron backlash was that people held him up as one of the honorable athletes that has fun playing the game. The minute he shows that it's a business and he's going to treat it as such they immediately jumped to tear him down. Now he's the example of what's wrong with today's athletes. And there is definitely a racist undertone to it all. Iverson was dead on with saying stop trying to cater to the media and trying to be all perfect and just be yourself because eventually they'll tear you down anyway the second they feel they have ammo.
"this guy we've been praising looks just like the people we criticize...what do we do"...luckily he didn't do anything to perpetuate anything.

blaming cacs for everything hate on lebron, the whole country shyts on this nikka cause he's a dumbass, that's why
