How can an album with Trapped, Keep Your Head Up, Violent, and I Get Around not be a great album?

not counting the people that are anxious for a reason to criticize pac, i'd say that 9 times out of 10, most people that are negative on this album are people who didnt get heavy into rap until years after the fact.
this was a hot album. a good 4 mics at least. i listen to it just as much as any of his other '91-96 albums besides 7 day theory. was it a classic? no. but there seems to be no in-between with some of you.
you got people in here saying that this album was irrelevant because it wasnt on chronic/doggystyle levels.

Yeah... that album was nowhere near great or even good for that matter. It had some flashes that suggested that he was capable of making great music, but as a whole it was lacking. The standouts were great- Brenda, If My Homies Call, Violent, Soulja's Story... and that's really about it, the rest is pretty much take or leave. A lot of the production was weak even for the time and even worse as time has passed... and as a rapper, I don't think Pac had really found his voice yet. You could hear that he had something... it just wasn't all there yet. And Strictly 4 My nikkaz was the same way, but he was starting to come into his own a little more on that one. He still had a lot random shyt on there, but the standouts were the songs that made him a star and really gave him a presence. I'm willin' to bet the best songs on there were probably made closer to the end of the recording process... cause you can still hear the 2Pacalypse Pac on a good half of it like 'Get The Finga', 'Last Wordz', etc., but then you hear the Pac with a style and flow on 'Papaz Song', 'Keep Ya Head Up', 'I Get Around', etc.
Listening to Pac albums in order is like a progression- he goes from an OK MC with no real musical direction on most of the first two albums, to a total package by the time Me Against The World came out... then he was kinda able to do a lil' of everything on All Eyez On Me... and then did his best lyrical work (with arguably the best production he ever had) on the Makaveli album. At the rate he was going, I think the album after that one woulda been

i put this on the yesterday and can't believe how much hate it's receiving ... people think all eyez on me was some type of genius recording but 2pacalypse now is straight ass cheeks...

Why do people keep saying this. 2Pacolypse now was very dope and to me is a classic. That shyt had more than a few bangers. If you say it was dated fair enough but far from wack. Young Black Male, I Don't Give a fukk, Souljas Story, Brenda etc. You kinda had to be there to appreciate it fully.

its was so many other good rappers to listen to at that time 2pac singles was only poppin at that time.Nobody was really bumpin a whole 2pac album back then.NWA,Spice 1,C-Bo,The Click.CMW,TooShort and many other West Coast rappers had better albums than pac at that time.it wasnt till the movie Juice came out and Pac started acting like Bishop then getting into trouble his music really took off.
