I actually liked a lot of shady artists.

I would have liked to see cashis and Bobby creek water albums.

Re'up had some dope tracks
Re-Up did have some dope tracks. Bobby Creek did an EP with Alchemist that never dropped, and Cashis did release that one EP on Shady records, but after Re-Up, the Cashis EP was the only official release I ever heard from either of those guys, or Stat, or Obie Trice, D12, etc.

That was like the last true Shady release, I think.

The funny thing though is I bet Stat was right and the hook was wack.

Lot of egos. It's understandable I guess, that someone as big and famous as Em would be offended by that, but on the other hand, holy shyt. That seems like a petty ass reason to blackball someone's entire project and entire career.

Stat probably was right, but he didn't get shelved for calling wack. According to Stat's own words, he told Em to give him a million dollars and he'd put the song out himself. There's nothing wrong with not being comfortable to record something you don't like, but he challenged Em. It would be the same if he made the same offer to Diddy or Dre.

“shyt was wack. I love Dre to death but it was wack,” Stat told Trent Clark, Justin Hunte, Jake Rohn and Marcel Williams. “This how this shyt work is how music goes, this is how you know your shyt [is] good. 2-3 months after it come out.” He continued, “It’s not that it wasn’t put together quality wise, it’s not that it wasn’t quality beats and shyt like that, it just didn’t capture the attention of the world. The only reason it got where it was was because the movie was so phenomenal. And that’s no diss. People think if you don’t like something you’re dissing it. I love Dre. He’s my everything. I helped him [with the project] but that don’t mean it’s the shyt just cause I helped, you know what I’m saying, WE fukked up!”

finally, the truth we all already knew. Album was hot trash and rushed to capitalize on the NWA movie

:scust: @ the thought of that is how Dr. Dre goes out the rap game

A big prob with Aftermath and Shady is that they blur the line so much between development level artists and actual label artists. The rosters are full of guys signed off potential alone, who passed Dre's writing test in the studio but have no personality/fan base/etc. So you end up with guys who should just have a development (i.e. writing) deal having full blown deals, budgets etc. And those guys never make it.

Skylar Grey is a great writer and feature killer but no one wants to hear her music because she has no personality. They tried sexing her up and it flopped. Now Dre has Justus who is a white Drake clone without the talent.

It's sink or swim. The supreme talents make it: Kendrick. And Anderson Paak is next; no he won't be a big star but he's too talented to bench, and will have a great career. Guys like Jon Connor have no chance. Great rapper but you can't sit on Aftermath without a fanbase demanding your shyt. TDE provided the blueprint for how to do it. You need a fanbase and you need to operate like you're independent. Connor should be killing feature verses right now, not sitting in a studio rapping on shyt no one will hear anytime soon...

Smh at people acting like Stat has some type of artist integrity. His ass was ready to sell out for a million dollars. He's no different than any other money hungry entertainer. Also,Eminem's drug addiction has a lot to do with his fall off.

Top 10 reasons for Eminems musical fall off:

1.Drug addiction/Proof's death
2.Too many yes men(people around him)
3.Interscope records(Iovine)
4.Too loyal to the wrong people(Dr.Dre,50cent)
5.Lives in a bubble
6.Does not work with enough top tier mc's/producers
7.Too controlling(He needs to open his mind up to other peoples ideas)
8.Too sensitive
9.Took some bad advice:Dre told him it was okay to diss his mother on record.Eminem should have vented his issues with his mother on one record and left it alone.
10.Too many records dissing Kim.Should have diss her on two records max, then left it alone

Eminem still has elite level mc skills. He just needs to re-evaluate his career choices, and the people around him.

Yeah it's cool to switch it up.

But us dre fans out here fiending for another chronic album :mjcry:

I understand that, but Dre is 1 of those guys who's doesn't try to repeat what he's already done, which is why when he comes back there's always another sound he's trying to master.

The Chronic is timeless, but we "been there, done that". And don't get me wrong, The Chronic is timeless, a masterpiece. Arguably the greatest Hip Hop album of all time. shyt, I still listen to The Chronic probably at least once a week! lol

But it was time for him to do something different; for his own sake and artistic merit.

(Chronic) 2001 is another album that's still in rotation from time to time. A classic. But it once again, it was time to turn to another chapter in his musical book.

It had been 16 years since a Dre album and instead of him being predictable and coming back with something from 1999, he came back with something new and different for better or for worse. It's always about moving forward with the music and trying new things in music.

If he would've come back with a 2001 or Chronic sound, people would have quickly wrote him off as "stuck in the past" or a relic.

But Dre is always about finding new talent and finding a common ground where it works for him as a producer and for the artists and musicians he works with.
