Everywhere
And all of those things happened because Bird had that championship game against Magic in college, he was white, and played for Boston. Of course he had to be a great player as well, but he wouldn’t be as popular without those other factors.
Of course.he was a superstar, not MJ level though. Bird=Eminem.

thats my point breh. magic was damn 35 years ago

Hali is a very long shot to be THAT kind of a transcending player especially with younger generation having attention span of a toddler

NOBODY SAW STEPH BECOMING
A SUPERSTAR EVEN AFTER
HE WAS IN THE LEAGUE FOR MULTIPLE YEARS....

SO NOW ITS LIKE IF
THIS LIGHT SKINNED nikka
CAN PULL THIS OFF
HE MIGHT ORGANICALLY BECOME
A SUPERSTAR.

THEY WERE TRYING
TO PUSH TATUM FOR YEARS
TO TAKE THAT LIGHT SKINNED
SUPERSTAR MANTEL
AND IT NEVER WORK BECAUSE
PPL COULD SEE IT WAS FORCED FROM DAY 1.

its just so hard imo to push a pass-first PG who isnt undersized or special scoring-wise or "against all odds" to people outside the sport

Steph was easy to push with him being undersized and a generational shooter and having ridiculous MVP years
Someone like AI was easy to push with him being very undersized and a "heart" scorer plus cultural relevancy

going back to your MLB example.
Both Griffey and Tony Gwynn were HoF players but one hit homers the other had great average but didnt hit bombs. And Gwynn wasnt really a superstar transcending the sport like Griffey. Everyone in sports world of course knew and appreciate Gwynn for being one of the best, but casual fans dont get enamored by not striking out as a hitter and putting up crazy averages.

He blew it when they choked against Cleveland. Had Boston beat Cleveland in that series when Tatum baptized LeBron, he would've been elevated, They didn't and now he is who he is,

I know. I agree she fits the bill for superstar status. Popularity from that fan base, plus she was 1st Team All WNBA.

I just think when you're literally one of the top 3-5 players in the entire league, you are also a superstar. Would you say Grant Hill and Vince Carter were superstars?

VINCE WAS A SUPERSTAR
DUE TO THE DUNK CONTEST
AND JUMPING OVER A 7 FOOTER
ON THE WORLD STAGE.
NOT DUE TO HIS OVERALL
BASKETBALL SKILLS.

GRANT WAS ON HIS WAY
BEFORE THE INJURIES
BUT GOT DERAILED
