superstar status has to do with the fame factor. celebrity appeal. its indictor is more to do with jersey sales and shoe endorsements than winning seasons.
if sponsors don't fukk with you ,you are not a superstar. You just an allstar
So by that definition Paul George was a superstar while khawi wasn’t?

Nah. Take Ja and Melo out. You can't be a superstar just because you have a pretty game/marketability.

They haven't done shyt. Haliburton proved multiple times he deserves to be up there now.
Exactly he got more success and accolades

Basically your grandmother has heard of them and doesn’t watch basketball at all. They gotta transcend the game.
My grandmother has only heard of Magic, Lebron, MJ, Shaq, and like kobe. That’s a slim definition

and she’s probably only heard of Tom Brady and OJ Simpson :jbhmm:

I mean is Bronny on of the biggest stars in the NBA?

I know. I agree she fits the bill for superstar status. Popularity from that fan base, plus she was 1st Team All WNBA.

I just think when you're literally one of the top 3-5 players in the entire league, you are also a superstar. Would you say Grant Hill and Vince Carter were superstars?
Yes to Grant. Sprite commercials, McDonalds, top selling jersey and Fila shoes that were super popular. Even appeared in Living Single. Not to mention married to RnB singer, Tamia. Injuries derailed him similar to Penny Hardaway.

That makes sense, superstar should be an exclusive title. Only a few can achieve it.

There’s a difference between a basketball star and a mainstream superstar.

Well then that’s only Bron Steph and KD

Correct

Just like she may not listen to rap, but probably heard of Snoop right?

Hell you can apply this to yourself. Just think of a genre you don’t follow at all, but yet you’ve heard the names of their superstars.

I’ve never watched hockey a day in my life but heard of Griesky & jagr

i don’t think that’s an accurate description of a superstar. i think you can be a superstar inside the confines of the support of whatever arena you’re in.

I think Phenom is the right term we should use.

Superstar is the level right before Phenom.
