Pelosi and Schumer? :why:
Muhfukka will the sitting US Senators of the Black Belt try to get a deal to help people in the Black Belt? :gucci:

What are Thad Cochran or Roger Wicker's opinions on the black belt?
What is Richard Shelby's opinion on the black belt?

but they dont owe their office to the black vote, the only reason why pelosi and schumer are in powerful positions is because of the black vote

so im glad we finally see that neither party is looking out for black interests

i know people wont believe me but im very sure i was the first (maybe @thekingsmen beat me to it) but I was the one of the first posters that even before obama left was asking about the the clinton's role in the prison industrial complex

and i never would get an answer

this is very similar, i never can get an answer as to why people think its ok for pelosi to meet with trump, threaten government shutdowns over DACA and not do the same for black interests

i notice everybody refuses to answer the question just like back in the day people use to refuse to answer why clinton and biden were architects of the prison industrial complex

is there anybody in the black liberal bench that can answer that question without smilies?

smilies is just a sign of trying to downplay the cognitive dissonance of realizing the political party that you pledge to is going against the interests of black people

This is a good thing, a 10-20 percent shift in the black vote would basically doom the democrats

The Democrats need to start explaining what they will do for black people if they want to keep the black vote

In the long term black people need to be a swing vote, that is the best way to leverage a minority vote into political power

It would be a lot easier if the other party didn't hate our existence
:hubie:

I actually agree with you but we don't got any real choices
:francis:

I actually think we need to focus on GOTV tactics and then just let the Dems know we can vote or stay home depending on what they do.

There isnt an option on the table where they arent in power...
What im suggesting is pressuring the Klansmen on the left to address our issues or they can continue to lose elections to the Klansmen on the right.
It doesnt even have to involve supporting the GoP:comeon:

trump retweets white supremacists, equivocates them with folks fighting against white supremacy, has packed away the dog whistle for a bull horn on the issues important to them. bannon provides a web portal for them to congregate, air their grievances, and strategize. his cabinet espouses policies that target blacks (mandatory sentencing, encouraging police brutality, ordering the doj to be more lenient on bad cops/police departments, even less financial oversight).

the "klansmen on the left" have been forced to lean back in our communities at the local and state level by way of our voting strength in those areas. dems have acknowledged that blacks are disproportionately targeted by corrupt police, forced the doj to take action on reform, attempted to bring more fiscal oversight on issues that affect blacks (only to be shot down and set back by republicans).

dems have done more to acquiesce to black communities demands so we can have the same opportunities (and agency ) as everyone else. they definitely have a long way to go and i agree we should do more to push for our own and on our own, but voting the other way (repubs or 3rd party) to protest lack of progress is hustling backwards. it would be like voting to bring back jim crow. yeah, that would show them. :stopitslime:

Dems need black support. We should leverage it for our benefit.
Being willing to vote Republican or 3rd party when our issues are not being addressed by Democrats creates an incentive to represent us that doesnt exist right now.

Simply giving them the vote because the other guys "worse" while black wealth evaporates, and incarceration rates remain insane is in my opinion suicide.

if the goal is for black people to get leverage from Democrats why should they vote for Republicans who have been trying for years to limit black people voting rights in every state with their gerrymandering bullshyt?

Yeah, seems like they're trying to tie coastal politics to down south. Honestly, black folks are the democratic party for the most part down south so it's not like there is no leverage there. You'll be better off creating you're own party than vote republican down here:mjlol:

Fair enough, but what we have now is blatant neglect... surely you see the problem with automatically giving our vote to a party that is doing nothing for us?:ld:Exploring other options(3rd parties included) should definitely be on the table.
It's always on the table. But political representation is a question of " What you gonna do for me?"

We have had this conversation before.
Outcome 1: Vote GOP. They will actively work against black interests.
Outcome 2: Vote Dem. Get payed lip service while the situation gradually decline.
Outcome 3: Vote 3rd Party. Wait they not viable to win. See option 1.

It's a catch -22 because it was designed as such. You won't ever see gains from such a system. To see results the paradigm must be shifted.
