Really that's your solution that's 40 percent less games. Will the players take less money for playing only 50 games. They will never take a 40 percent paycut. Heck they won't even take a 5 percent pay cut. Just saying cause that's what the owners will ask for.

No one is willing to lose money. Everyone talks until it burns their own pocket. Kerr is talking out of his ass because he's trying to protect and extend the careers of his elder superstars. He's trying to justify and set up fans for load management so the warriors can continue to be mediocre for a few more seasons. Really it's a win win. He extends the careers of Curry, Draymond and Butler while being a treadmill team and still keep the fans engaged and on their seats. Everyone makes money over the long run it's all good. Except for the family that bought $300 tickets to see Curry play.
agree with all you said except Kerr talking out of his ass. both can be true. He's both trying to protect the end of dynasty and end of Steph career but also what he said is true imo. Does it justify load management is another question.

I disagree with Kerr and that's why I lean more towards him saying this to protect his players.

The pace of play adds more tolls to the body but the game is way less physical overall now than the 90s when he played. Also, the pace of play was frantic in the 70s, even more so than in today's game. Guys never sat or did any load management they continued on just fine. The only argument anyone has for load management is that the product is better since guys can go harder at it and the argument that players are getting hurt because they are playing more in their teenage years with the whole AAU circuit and high school basketball becoming mainstream. To me it's all bullshyt and it's becoming about players extending their careers as much as possible because the stakes in terms of money are so much higher now even accounting for inflation. When average players are making 15+ million per year it makes a difference.

Don Nelson and Mike D'Antoni had run and gun fast paced offenses way before Kerr was even a coach.

not sure pioneered anything besides taking away a lot of pg duties from the best shooter in the game and basically making him a huge off-ball threat with movement/screens so he can take a 3

this injury issue isnt really confined to NBA or basketball. look at all the injuries in football these days. its the same exact shyt, soft tissue injury and noncontact injuries

He pioneered this new offense where every single offensive player makes screens, and cuts at full speed. When every position on the floor is running around like a chicken with it's head cut off the entire game of course it's going to wear down ligaments and tissue.

Now that the run is looking about finished he wants changes lol

This is complete and utter nonsense. I don't know why people keep on parrotting this the pace of play was quicker in the 70 and 80's. It just isnt idc what the possessions say from 1978 or 1984 and to how they compare to now. Every SPORT in the world is more athletic and faster in 2025 than what it was in 40-50 years ago. But i guess it's all about keeping kayfabe alive.

Since the start of Covid or the return since the first global shutdown. Sports and athletes are pretty much at their limit of what they can do physically. That condensed schedule they had to go through for the following 18-24 months was relentless so that TV companies could get their moneys worth and tournaments being rescheduled the sporting calenders became messy and put on a lot of mileage on the athletes. And the already packed schedule has become even more money hungry from the governimg bodies with more games and travel for the athletes. They aren't going down the road they are going to different countries and continents. But I guess that's ok because they get paid millions so they should shut the phuck up and get on with it.

this isnt even really just a 90s thing. Basketball was fine in 2010 when lakers vs celtics were in the finals. It waa fine during the miami big three era too.

At Some point after that it turned into a fast paced three point shooting contest. Also, these players are looking for any reason not to hoop. The passion and enjoyment for the game just doesnt seem to be there. Most these dudes treat the nba like its a amazon warehouse job or something.

I dont get what does increasing roster size accomplish?

Football has it with practice squad and yet most people aren't trying to see practice squad players, ie replacement level players who couldn't make the 53, play.
I guess I think of it like baseball where you got more players who are actually apart of the roster...not just some practice squad g league jabrons. Someone teammates can get familiar with that...that travel with the team...that you can rotate throughout the season when players are load managing. Of course this doesn't help lower the injury rate much in the short term but what it does do is promote cultivating an environment around this school of thought. Obviously it would need league wide participation...at least the way I imagine it. More than just Silver increasing the limit from 15 players to 20. The cap situation would need to change. Coaches would have to be willing to go deeper into their lineups. Teams would have to do more investing into player development. Owners would have to hire more employees, Etc. Ultimately these are just steps to take to normalize/legitimize the evolution of the NBA going forward. The more spots there are for opportunity...the more people work toward filling those spots. The more those spots are filled...the more stars you have emerge. It could have a significant impact on the growth of the game of basketball if done correctly. Yea, a bit of a far fetched scenario to think about this all coming to fruition anytime soon but ultimately the direction I see the league going logically.

NBA careers are longer than they've ever been.

I'm tired of this conversation because the TV deals get bigger and bigger and players ain't giving back money.

The League don't want stars sitting out games when the money comes from people wanting to see stars.

Slow the fukk down.

We seeing so many 150 pt games nowadays.

This is the advanced, futuristic basketball people wanted. It comes with a cost.

Yup. People were repeating ad nauseam that this is the "best era ever" and that players are basically better at everything stronger quicker etc.

Yet here we are, not even 20 games in the season and already talking about injuries load management and how the pace is too much for these same players.
