I blame the emphasis on the 3pt shot. Running round the court chasing shooters or isolations to create a shot, whereas back in the day, players got to rest by dumping the ball into the post. Even players like Luc Longley would get touches (not necessarily to shoot). Now the game is frenetic.

So who or what is to blame?

The medical staff is gonna keep you out 2 weeks regardless of length of season

Everybody thinks the recovery time from injuries will be less if there are less games. Lol

All these injuries are already happening in the BEGINNING of the season. How is shortening the season going to change that?

:dead: THANK YOU

It's mostly the coaches emphasizing the importance of scoring in transition.

We also how much running (and change of direction) happens in defense with switching and most great teams being able to put 5 legitimate shooters on the floor.

So if it's coaches who are to blame why the hell is Kerr talking then lol. Also the simple fix would be to have teams plays at a slower pace. Ironically the Knicks got mocked all of last year for playing slower than the rest of the league, didn't stop us from reaching the ECF. With a full healthy roster. Maybe Thibs was doing something right after all.

Anyway tbh I have a hard time understanding why the same exact players are praised for being uber athletic etc on offense but on defense suddenly they aren't athletic enough to defend the exact same plays they're doing on the other side of the court.

I dont get what does increasing roster size accomplish?

Football has it with practice squad and yet most people aren't trying to see practice squad players, ie replacement level players who couldn't make the 53, play.

The soft tissue and non contact injuries are happening a lot in every sport. Athletes are more agile than ever, they cut with more suddeness and constantly move in bursts and sprints more than ever. A lot of max effort out there.

Human body ain't built for that. And yet that's what modern team sports generally is.

A number of things. Style of play. Even some of the moves that are allowed now that were illegal back then. Putting all that torque on your knees is bound to cause injury.
What "moves" allowed today were "illegal" back then? If you're talking about all the ttaveling and carrying these guys do today then cool

I'm taking about these triple step back 3s and shyt. I know the hop step wasn't illegal, but Derrick Rose said himself that doing that move at that point in the game was unnecessary and Thibs wasn't the blame for that ACL injury. He always put so much force on his jumps.

I also wonder if they're training properly.

Wouldnt this be the teams fault in essense not having the right trainers around their 200 million dolla investments

Partly yes but in the offseason these dudes train with their own guys and a lot of them be fraudulent
