What is the length of the All-Star break versus past eras? That may change the way schedules are laid out.
i agree with Hahn. basketball players don't need 3-4 months off, recovery time between games is more important than a long offseason.
But that's always existed. The pace of the game and specialization in sport/ligament load from AAU till adulthood is a bigger issue than having 15+ weeks off.

Its a full week now compared to a couple days before. Not that big of a change, especially considering the season starts a couple weeks earlier. They have actually tried to limit back to backs and spread the schedule out. They reality is there is only so much you can do when money trumps everything including player health and quality of play :manny:. That is a major factor in the specialization/wearing kids out in AAU stuff as well.
