Kobe, T-Mac, Vince, Ray Allen...
Durant, Harden, Butler, Klay...
Kinda just feels like semantics to an extent in what gets labeled a "this or that" in this era vs the recent past. B/c star wing players have had a type of 'position malleability' for a bit now.
i.e. Vince was listed as a 6'6 SF his first 3 years in Toronto, then a 6'6 SG his last three years there. Essentially jackin up the same amount/type of shots.
T-Mac switched back and forth from a 6'8 SF to a 6'8 SG every couple years, but his game stayed essentially the same
Harden is a 6'5 PG now leading the league in assists and playing the role of Steve Nash on crack. Before that he was a straight up SG.
Durant is a 6'9 SF.. but obviously he has the shooting ability and skillset to do pretty much anything a SG can.
Butler has alternated between listed as a 6'7 SG and 6'7 SF in his career
Kawhi, 6'7, was a spot up 3 pt gunner last year, nearly led the league and was better than the 6'6 Danny Green who was his SG.
So you still have your more conventional star SGs (Ray/Klay) but you still also have your transcendent types that can be labeled whatever you need them to be, based on your team's need/convenience.
