So if we are comparing today and his era, I’m wrong? No fukkin way. You have some many leading black artist in r and b from the 60s to the 80s it’s not even funny. You can’t compare that to now. And I wasn’t speaking in absolute terms.
You still confusing me.

Everyone saying it’s about ‘white approval’ also clearly didn’t watch the entire grapevine video or ANY of my own personal work lol because I say several times idc about a Grammy as a marker of approval :manny: Bruno winning those Grammys just so happened to be the topic of the panel I was on so I spoke my piece. For me it’s more about what he represents in terms of love black culture, hate black bodies that’s disgusting. Black people hate ourselves and would even prefer our own culture from non-Black faces, it’s sick. Look at all these capes flying for Bruno.

But fukk a racist Grammy:

Matter fact fukk all awards shows:

You said in that video that Hip-Hop is bigger than Rock. Why is that in your opinion? It can't be just because of one 9 song album from Bruno that's the worst commercial album of his career and a couple of hit singles from Post Malone. To make Hip-Hop the number one genre in music, there had to be alot of people that like what the Black Hip-Hop artists are putting out there right?

Here is the thing. I like Bruno Mars. I think he is super talented and he has never talked out the side of his neck as far as I know.

However, those of you who merely equate this to "hating" are oversimplifying the issue.

It isn't so much Bruno himself but what his success in r&b represents. I liked 24k Magic a lot but y'all know damn well a black artist would NOT have won AOTY with it. I've been reading comments on this and white/non black have said that blacks are just "mad" because he is doing it "better." This absolute bullshyt and doesn't sit right with me at all.

There are so many black artists just as talented that will NEVER even sniff a record deal. Love black music, not black people. Mainstream R&B is pretty much dead at this point for more reasons than laziness from current artists.

The anger expressed in the video may be misguided, but certainly not devoid of merit.
The misguidance kinda did void the merit tho. You’re not being honest if you watched that rant and deny that she was hating on Bruno. She had a valid point about whites preferring our music from non blacks, but that’s not bruno’s fault. It’s out fault. There’s no way around that. Hating on people like Bruno is not a solution to black people being exploited by the music business.

Nobody is saying he's wack at what he does. Nobody is saying he's not allowed to do the shyt. Non-black people been biting black music for decades. Most of us still listen to Bobby Caldwell, Teena Marie, Michael McDonald, etc... The main issue is that he's (Bruno) pushed ahead of other AA male R&B artists. You're strawmanning into whether or not he makes good songs. That's not the issue.
So what does hating on Bruno have to do with the solution to that?

He's a better artist than Chris Brown and Trey Songs by a huge margin

I was honestly surprised it went viral NOW.

If anything, winning those Grammys is gonna be his downfall because him beating damn, 4:44, and awaken my love finally had nikkas like :ohhh::stopitslime:

The Coli told me you were married to a 50 yr old white man.

Is that true?

Black culture = The most popular versions of Air Jordan sneakers

That's why we get copied so much. Ain't nobody tryna cop fake Air Shawn Bradley's. People want fake Jordan's (or real Jordan's). It sucks that we must deal with so much appropriation but it happens because we have a culture worth emulating. That's never going to change.

That's consumerism in a nutshell to be honest exploit the organic to mass produce

a non black example would probably be country music.

I would say that even tho white kids LOVE them some ghetto safari Black Nat Geo music for entertainment purposes (and they will buy it), hip-hop didn’t become the most listened to genre when Biggie and Pac were out, it became the most listened to genre after these whites made a mass infiltration. Eminem made it palatable to the masses and to this day he remains the best selling rap artist of all time. He is the BEST SELLING artist of the 2000s in the United States. He outsold 50 Cent. He is the only artist to have eight albums consecutively debut at number one on the Billboard 200. Adele’s second studio album held the top position longer than any album in the United States since 1985. They’ll accept r&b, soul, hip-hop etc. from us if they have to, but it is VASTLY PREFERRED from a non-Black body. And even Black people feel this way about ourselves.
