Stevie was probably posting on that Coli thread about folks of migrating African descent in the Pacific
and South Asia.

Indigenous Filipinos.

I think the bigger issue is the fact that when black artist come out they are shelved or they don’t have the resources to be successful in a genre they are genetically and culturally attached too. I believe the real issue is the mass consumers which are normally white have an issue seeing black people performing their own music. Steve was in an era when no other group was performing black music. You had prince, James brown, Curtis mayfield, Sam Cooke and etc. today we have Justin Timberlake, Bruno, Jojo, Winehouse, Adele, logic and lil xan perform popular contemporary black music.

So logic and lil can are bigger than kendrick, migos and j Cole? Lol at black artists getting shelved. Ive never even heard of that happening.

I'm just waiting for his next big single to bite mid or late 90s R&B.

My man went from the 70s & 80s with Uptown Funk and 24K Magic, now that joint with Cardi B is 1992 New Jack Swing.

Bruno about to drop the 2018 "Touch Me Tease Me" next :heh:
Yeah I think it’s dope he bringing back the oldies but he is biting people. I guess they are getting paid, well if they own their masters. Which highly likely they don’t knowing how black artist were down before the 90s. Just ask Frankie Lyman.

He doesn’t speak for every black musician from his time period. Nor does he represent the new generation of r and b. He say so is not final.

No its his opinion, however considering he is one of the architects of the very same genre YOU TAKING CLAIM OVER.......his opinion should hold some weight.

I'ma play devil's advocate here and just right here...but music is for everybody. And we need to stop equating our culture with what we see on TV. Most of it is not for us or even made by us. And lastly, black (american) culture is based on getting robbed, cheated, etc. No other group gets this upset. Like, Stephen Hawking never got the credit he deserved for inventing autotune, but you don't see his estate complaining about it.

I just don't understand why people online are rushing to this lesbian lookin motherfukker's defense like they're on the payroll or something.

He'll be alright :childplease:
Because it's stupid as fukk and highkey is making black people to seem like crybabies crying over some nonsense like this when there are more important matters at hand.

Of course his music is influenced by the artists he listens to and loves..and they happen to be black, he doesn't hide that fact.

Tyrese stated this before when wanted to boycott radio because the were not playing black artist. This talking r and b tho. As for rap logic and lil xan appear to be building on the same platform that Asher Roth came in on. My point is rap was an outlet for black artist because there was voice for young black males in the 80s suffering in the hood. Do xan and logic add to this or do they add to a narrative about young white males that have an higher employment rate and access to a better life than a Kendrick, migos and cole? Kendrick is from a piru neighborhood, migos are affiliated with gangster disciples and cole just had his house raided for drugs. Do xan and logic have these issues?

No they don’t because those black artist come from neighborhoods made during segregation.

Say what you will but that one sista who made this subject poppin’ had a point. It’s as if black American culture is too easily accessible for any group without their being any (black) gatekeepers. Would a black person be able to go to the Philippines and tell them about their culture and customs? Hell naw, they would run our black ass out so fast it wouldn’t be funny. We can’t use the excuse “Oh, well, I appreciate your culture and culture is for everyone”. But for some reason our culture is something everyone can just take on and off like a mask. I love Stevie Wonder down but he’s tap dancing a bit and really needs to look at this critically.

Stevie be knowing :salute:
