Sell out for a check, brehs.

I've studied the industry my entire life my nikka, I'm well aware how that shyt works. You can't get mad at a nikka (bruno and his production teams) successfully reviving a style long discarded by Blacks but be sympathetic to current nikkas WILLFUL stagnance. There's a reason why Indies exist. If an artist signs to a major he/she sold their soul by volition. It is what it is.

:hula:
I’m not just speaking in Bruno. I’m saying that Timberlake and logic are slowly replacing African artist. We never discarded this music. I got jodeci on my playlist and I’m to you for all that. Also if we are talking creativity, Bruno has none. He doesn’t add anything new to these old songs.

I'ma play devil's advocate here and just right here...but music is for everybody. And we need to stop equating our culture with what we see on TV. Most of it is not for us or even made by us. And lastly, black (american) culture is based on getting robbed, cheated, etc. No other group gets this upset. Like, Stephen Hawking never got the credit he deserved for inventing autotune, but you don't see his estate complaining about it.

No its not.

LMAO

If dude were say...a one hit wonder, they literally wouldnt give a single fukk.
the fact that people are just now hating on him 3 albums deep, 8 years into the game, on what's his lowest selling album :heh: is a testament of this hypersensitive, fake woke ass social media world we live in

So he's not performing, co-writing and co-producing his own music. Aight, breh.

Nobody is saying he's wack at what he does. Nobody is saying he's not allowed to do the shyt. Non-black people been biting black music for decades. Most of us still listen to Bobby Caldwell, Teena Marie, Michael McDonald, etc... The main issue is that he's (Bruno) pushed ahead of other AA male R&B artists. You're strawmanning into whether or not he makes good songs. That's not the issue.

Here is the thing. I like Bruno Mars. I think he is super talented and he has never talked out the side of his neck as far as I know.

However, those of you who merely equate this to "hating" are oversimplifying the issue.

It isn't so much Bruno himself but what his success in r&b represents. I liked 24k Magic a lot but y'all know damn well a black artist would NOT have won AOTY with it. I've been reading comments on this and white/non black have said that blacks are just "mad" because he is doing it "better." This absolute bullshyt and doesn't sit right with me at all.

There are so many black artists just as talented that will NEVER even sniff a record deal. Love black music, not black people. Mainstream R&B is pretty much dead at this point for more reasons than laziness from current artists.

The anger expressed in the video may be misguided, but certainly not devoid of merit.

yall aren't tired of this? none of your bytching is going to change his success, popularity, or the fact he put out a dope album :umadd:
Okay, he has a dope album. But why is black American culture so easily accessible to other groups? Nobody is mad or jealous about Bruno’s success. He’s just a proxy for the main issue.
