What 'narrative' am I keeping afloat?
for some strange reason, you just had an incredibly hard time admitting that nancy could have physically forced mcconnell to vote that deal down,by signing onto mnuchins 1.8 deal and making it real

and with election pressure and trump screaming on the news every day for the senate to pass it, who knows how it would have played out? no one on earth can say 100 percent

but we'll never know, because pelosi gloated about turning it down with no other plan to get anything done :yeshrug:

If anything passes in Feb or March, it will be retroactive to the start of September, when the benefit expired.
Thanks for clearing this up

What if someone’s benefit ran out prior to Feb/March when something is passed? I got out the military in mid June and late March would be the end of my chapter (for UI).

Holefully they would make it retroactive even for people who got timed out by the time something was passed

i wouldnt bank on anything like that tbh. we dont know anything for sure until it actually passes in march

and yeah thread title should be updated to "no stimulus money until march". pelosi only had one piece of leverage to take whatever she could get, and that was the election

If Biden wins and Democrats take the Senate, I am guessing that the next stimulus will be as generous as the last, which had enough flexibility to cover just about anyone. That’s why the CARES Act beget so much widespread fraud. It covered almost anyone, so long as you weren’t lying. They had to, since it included benefits for the self employed. Basically, if you said you’re unable to work because of COVID, you were covered. I don’t see that changing.

I hope so as well. I was just wondering if they pass something early spring, how would that affect those who’s benefits ran out before then. But I guess they would be covered

I’d venture to say It’s rough out here for anyone without a federal job. Anyone saying otherwise is disconnected :francis:

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
I actually agree with you.

Shouldve took that 1.8.
Even if she co-signed it was never going to pass which is the entire point. Most senate republicans or just enough of them don’t want nothing. The point of stalling until November was to let the voters decide. If trump wins and the republicans keep control of the senate, they will view it as “Americans” saying no more stimulus. It’s not hard to figure out.

lets use this race as an example. competitive iowa senate race, greenfield vs ernst. ernst is fading fast, hopefully

Ernst Struggles in Iowa as Republicans Battle to Hold Senate Amid Trump’s Woes

if pelosi took the deal, then ernst would have had to explain to the voters of iowa why her and her boss mitch wouldnt pass more relief for the people of iowa. easy opportunity for her Dem opponent to say "joni ernst doesnt give a fukk about the people of iowa, i would have voted for more relief". stimulus arguably becomes the biggest issue in the country overnight

it just seems crazy to me that the dems arent all over taking advantage of this :yeshrug:

Based on what I've seen, Pelosi will probably pass it next week, a week before the election to do exactly as you suggest.

Yeah I don't get why she just doesn't force them to fully expose what we all already know, that Gilbert isn't passing shyt regardless. And if heavens forbid he does the people who need a lil pick me up get one. I don't see tangerine winning in either scenario so lets speed tihs up.

obviously the 1.8 isnt perfect, its called a deal for a reason. but theres plenty in there the dems can tout as a victory, she got them to go up to 400, etc

and at the end of day, fukk the politics anyway. we're heading into the winter :why: this is supposed to be about the people who need it

if the dems take the senate back, they can just fill in the blanks on this bill in march
