Student loans paused until August 31st. Is Biden doing the right thing here?

Biden’s plans to address student loan debt will alleviate student debt burdens by:

  • Including in the COVID-19 response an immediate cancellation of a minimum of $10,000 of federal student loan debt.
  • Forgiving all undergraduate tuition-related federal student debt from two- and four-year public colleges for debt-holders earning up to $125,000. This will also apply to individuals holding federal student loans for tuition from private HBCUs and MSIs.

Because the shyt is a trap just like offering credit cards to college freshman the minute they step foot on campus.
It wasn’t a trap for me :russ:

People should stop Selecting colleges call for the name recognition and going out of state and care more about the curriculum and the teacher earning potential but of course nobody wants to take responsibility for their actions.

I know someone who loves partying so he stayed at our school for an extra year and he paid the price but he buckle down and paid off 110,000 student loans.

I could care less about the woulda coulda shoulda of the situation

The student loan crisis is about the country’s refusal to take care of its people while using their money to take care of others. Yes, Bobbie took out 15k and got a degree in the History of Vinyl from 1953-1972. Don’t chastise him and sent a billion dollars to Israel or money to the Ukraine for some stuff that hasnt got anything to do with the people over here.

Preach!!

They're dragging this out until the mid terms. By July they'll do another extension that lasts until the end of the year. Conveniently after the elections are over.

It’s a major gamble on their part as the student loan issue should have already been solved now based on Biden’s promises. It’s not a gamble that I’d take if I were them as you run the risk of people not showing up to the polls because of said lie even with the extensions.

It wasn't a trap for you, congratulations breh but the average 17-18 year old ain't thinking about all that stuff. They have colleges in mind usually and they apply, their college of choice accepts them and the 1st thing they do is shove a fafsa form in your face. Most kids don't know what comes after that. I'm not speaking from experience but I do know that credit cards and student loans are 2 of the biggest debts millennials and Gen z faces.

My 1st day on campus when I went to school I was offered a credit card from somebody with a whole setup before I even knew how to find the book store. Not only that, I didn't even need student loans but was offered it to cover living expenses and such. Basically take the scholarship and use the other money to live off of and then "build credit" with a credit card.

You got a bunch of people that ain't had a dime in they life and you're just giving them money and not explaining the consequences in how it works, of course they're going to take it. At the very least they need to make all students go through a financial literacy class before offering them anything.

All those people you mentioned have student loans themselves and are in the same situation :mjlol:

I’m not trapped at all with my student loans, but the system has been for a long time now and it needs completely. Only problem is, the guy in charge of solving the problem helped make it worse with previous decisions. I remember debating with at @Sohh_lifted about it and he had excuse for Biden.

Obama was still paying his loans almost until he became president. Beau Biden died still in debt and Joe had to pay on it.
