shyt...The Neptunes was runnin it. I remember when Grindin dropped. I never heard nothing like that before. shyt was a mix of emotions. It was hilarious now that I look back...

...WTF is this beat....shyt sound like a basement door slamming....shyt is wack....these dudes sound the same, but they kinda snappin....the beat is wack tho....wait....this shyt....is hard as fukk....how are these nikkas rhymin over this?....I let my crew hear it.....crickets....shyts wack dude....twists up some smoke....shyts still wack dude.....wait....fam....this is kinda dope....faded.....nikka THIS shyt HYPE!!! :russ:

i instantly loved grindin because it was a throwback to mid-80s hip-hop. i favorite era for production.

funny you should mention the doubters. yea, i remember alot of people werent sold on the clipse. they initially thought that the clipse were just living off the beat............until "lord willin" dropped.

You know what song gets overlooked in hindsight from that era?

LL Cool J - Luv U Better - YouTube

People forget, this was a huge hit towards the end of the summer leading into the fall of 02. Also courtesy of the Neptunes on the beat.

i keep overlooking it as a summer single because it always seems like it dropped in the fall.

but yea, its #3 on my list of rap singles that summer, right behind the clipse & nelly.

One of my favorite summers...just finished my first year of undergrad, and came home for the summer...I didn't have that highspeed internet at the crib that I had grown used to in the dorms, so I was hitting up the flea market on saturday for them 2 for $5 (or however much they were taxing back then) bootleg cds

That Juicy J Chronicles of the Juice Man dropped that had the classic

:myman:

And them murderous instrumentals towards the end

:birdman:

:damn:

Aziatic had The Essence on it...lines from that track is part of me and my homeboys' lexicon to this day "Who blessed you with the ill haircut...that niqqa Lenny, he make a pretty penny" "You hiding with them frames on...niqqa you James Bond" etc....just one of them fly tracks that will never get old

Sqad 4 with the Best of Me freestyle on it

:wow:

That Headbussaz album Juice and Paul had with Fiend came out somewhere around that time...I remember the track with the "Bring Sally Up" sample getting hella play

I'm bout to mess around and make '02 playlist when I get the time

state property deserves some type of badge of honor.

they went toe-to-toe/no-holds barred with both major figgas & dblock at the same dam time, all while still finding the time to chit on nas as a favor for jay who failed to get the job done.

:whew:

not to mention they dropped a dope movie, dope soundtrack(which featured arguably the best song of the year) and a classic freestyle session-turned mixtape all within the same year.

man, i cant remember many r&b singles from that summer for some reason.

i rocked with these 4 the hardest, along with something else that i cant remember. im not even sure if the last 2 were summer joints:

:whew: the early '00s was the goat time period for r&b pu$$y.

I don't think that it was forgotten. Mad cats were bumping this and they still play it on the radio from time to time. Crazy that its been a decade since this and all the other good music of 02 was released.

you gotta throw this in there:

too bad freeway's album got pushed back, more than likely because jay wanted to have his failed attempt of a parade for blueprint 2.

freeway's 1st joint was a success but wouldve been so much bigger if it dropped in "roctober" like it was supposed to.
