This speech was really bad, and belies a major flaw in the Superman ethos

"Superman is human just like us" becomes an excuse for Superman to embrace the most indulgent elements of humanity which a hero should be above. I'm sure he's great to have a beer with, but the very fact that he puts on a bright costume and chooses us his powers to save people puts him in a very different position. If you were falling off a roof would you call for me of fukkin Superman?:mjlol:

Why do we protest the police? Because they're "only human" but when you take on certain roles you have a standard to uphold. Y'all want Superman to be the invincible alien that saves everyone and a regular old human at the same time. This requires a lot of cognitive dissonance

That's to say that Superman can't feel emotions, but if he's gonna be a big ass baby flying off the handle he's just a PG-13 Homelander:mjlol:

I get what you're saying but that's the only thing keeping him from being Homelander. Nobody in that universe could realistically stop him if he didn't care. I took it as him establishing the difference between him and Ultraman more than anything. There's no more kryptonite on the planet, no more Ultraman, lol he has to have some kind of weakness and that's his humanity.

300ms acter barley 2 weeks is pretty good for an intro. Can it survive next week will be the test. FF is going to def hurt it unless word of mouth remains strong.
Really good showing, all things considered. If the interest in overseas markets wasn’t so lackluster, this would do $800mil+ easy.

This movie was basically a PG-13 version episode of Invincible :mjlol:

Superman just got his ass kicked throughout the movie and then gets called a bytch by his cousin at the end :mjlol:

Mr Terrific was the best part. The Lex actor acted the best with a good performance but looked way too much like Randy Orton which took me out of scenes.

And Lex’s plans made no sense. They could have just waited for Superman to come back to the fortress and killed him. He has a clone of Superman and could frame him that way yet puts the clone behind a mask?

I think it’s a decent setup for an existing world with superheroes and supervillains already existing. But this Superman is too goofy to be a leader. And doesn’t seem like a fully developed adult. He’s like Starlord and Mark Grayson. And with how WEAK this Superman is, if they make any follow ups there will have to be other heroes like in Invincible.

Says a lot when the people with the loudest negative opinions in this thread are online characters with bold texts, signature emojis and shyt

Main character syndrome. nikkas need that attention
It says even more when nikkas can't have a dissenting opinion without being "negative" I'm not the one that started insulting nikkas in here:manny: Mind you I started all of this with saying I like the movie, I just think Superman is the weakest part, but even if I didn't it shouldn't matter

And it's a discussion thread, everybody in here typing for attention:mjlol:

I get the bolded which is why I actually didn't mind them making him physically weaker. I even understand the human elements anchoring him. My only point of contention is how he regulates those emotions

For reference I use Animated Series Superman as a standard. I think TAS Superman can get into a debate with Lois without screaming at her. I think TAS Superman can be visibly angry and ask where his dog is without throwing shyt around like Batman. Ironically I also think the best on screen Superman is MCU Steve Rogers. That's the type of temperament I expect from Superman

It's also worth noting that I didn't mind at all when Superman cried when the Indian got killed:manny: That's was a very appropriate, Superman like reaction. This is what I mean when I talk about the spectrum of emotional regulation. When I see a 30 year old man screaming at his girlfriend I see a big baby, when I see that same man cry because a man was killed I understand his tears completely

I can't see Batman and Superman friendship not being established or set up for Supermans next major appearance. Supergirl is next up and that one probably will be just her.
I don't think that Gunn will have Batman appear in any live-action DCU project before the Brave and the Bold movie.

Anyway, I could see a Superman/Supergirl crossover being Superman's next movie appearance.

So you think that Superman should be stern all of the time? That's unrealistic. Also, Superman had moments where he rage quit in the DCAU.

Further, Superman is NOT physically weak in the movie. I don't know why so many people are saying that.

Superman of the Galaxy is not for me. Matter of fact, I think I’m done with comic book movies after this one.
