That's an insane claim to make.
Nintendo in the Wii60 generation made more money than any other platform holder by an exponential degree, because they were booming on both the handheld market AND the home console market.
And they made a ton of money on software that generation, what are you talking about?
Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Wii fit, Mario Kart Wii, New Super Mario, Smash, Galaxy games, etc. Like all those titles sold upwards of 25 million copies, outside of the Galaxy games and Smash. MkWii sold like 37 million units.
THEY moved an absolute ton of software that gen, the real issue was 3P did not, but that was on them, as they didn't bring their absolute best to that userbase.
And they had similar issues last generation on Switch, because they prioritized PS/Xbox/PC and often put their B-titles and teams on Switch.
You can't give people scraps and be surprised they don't go gaga over them.
Especially in a world that's so interconnected via information.

You give quality, people tend to respond, hence Capcom's second best selling game ever being Monster Hunter Rise(World is the first).
The money they made that gen was never approached by another platform holder until they outdid themselves in the Switch generation.
Sony lost all the money they made in the PS1/PS2 gens in the PS3 generation.
It wasn't until the end of the generation that they righted the ship and got into smoother waters.
Literally, the Ps4 was such a conservative leap forward because of the bruise the PS3 generation was for them.

Was Microsoft's best gen, and they experienced a second wind at the end of the generation with the Kinect, but they lost billions righting the RROD fiasco.
Without the albatross of the three red rings, they might have approached Nintendo's profitability that gen, but we will never know.
