You do realize we have been slaves for over 400 years, I dont know where you're getting this just over 100 years part. :dahell:

Breh...you're mixing up things. You said "Africans have been speaking European languages for hundreds of years" which SIMPLY IS NOT TRUE. The slaves you're talking about were brought OUT of Africa to the Americas, where they eventually had to learn those languages, true. But this thread is about languages IN AFRICA, not about slaves in the Americas.

In Africa, European languages were only imported with the colonization, and as I stated that only started at the end of the 19th century. And, again, mostly used by the elites and in the cities. You make it sound like random villagers in Southern Chad have been speaking french for 400 years. Slavery and colonization are two different things (and yes, forced labor under the colonization can arguably be considered a form of slavery, but, again, colonization only started at the end of the 19th century).

i read that those African nations are actually the ones fueling French's survival as a international language due to its unifying ability

If you don't plan on doing business with white folk then why bother? No african country should have to depend on europeans. Africa has way too many natural resources for all that. If anything, europeans should be learning african languages.

You dont need swahili, zulu,or tswana in global business, english you do....obviously it depends on what you decide on doing with your life...

Before English French was THE international language. People arent gonna just suddenly QUIT speaking a language. Imagine if today you went home and decided to talk to your kids in a new language

Rephrasing:

Before English became the international language of the world, French was considered THE international language of the world. People arent gonna just suddenly QUIT speaking a language.

Goatganda the pearl of Africa
The american dollar and euro are not backed by anything.
Africa sits on the largest reserves of gold and diamonds. If africa had a centralized bank, and backed a unified currency with gold, it would crush the monopoly money that US and europe plays with.

gaddafi tried and was taken out

There actually was a short-lived projet, I think in the 70s, to have Swahili taught all over Africa (plus the local languages obviously). Soyinka talked about it at a conference I went to.

I remember my mom talking about learning Swahili as a kid.
