I been saying this. I drive through there on weekdays and see white folks jogging, frolicking and shyt like that's not a grimy neighborhood. They walk around there like they the captain now. :coffee:
I think Little Haiti doesn't need to be gentrified any further, unless it's to the benefit of the residents. There are enough record shops, and lounges, and stuff like Churchills that gives Little Haiti activities beyond just your typical "Haitian Church/Botanic/Pawn Shop" variety. Anymore gentrification, and it won't be Little Haiti anymore. It needs to all be Haitian based gentrification. They're trying to put a Food-hall in Little Haiti. I hope Black folks can keep Liberty City, and fix it up and market it to Blacks around the metro area. Same with Opa-Locka and the rest of Northwest Miami-Dade. Northwest Miami is the next frontier. Most of Northeast Miami is built up already, but there's so many empty lots, "urban-prairies" and areas of poverty in Northwest Miami that artist, hipster, developers, etc, are licking their chops. There's nothing wrong with sprucing up those areas and making them entertainment districts, but when Blacks start getting displaced, than that's not cool.

I'm about to head to his NY lecture right now. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Edit - spot is pack. Prolly gonna be standing room only. DJ is doing his thing. The crowd is mostly younger people with some older folks sprinkled in here and there. Venue is official and in a good location right offa Broadway and 67th

The lecture was official. We're about to do a Q&A session after this intermission

The whole spot is packed out, even the balcony. Tariq held it down on stage and even threw in some jokes here and there. He started things off with a Prince tribute and that loosened the crowd up a bit. From what I could see there was literally one CAC in the audicnce. Rest of the crowd was a mix of younger folks and some older cats here and there. The DJ is doing the damn thing with a nice mix of Prince music.

After the QnA session is the VIP meet and greet.

Overall I had a good time and it was good to see so many "woke" brothas and sistas in the audience.

There's a lot of cats here networking at the meet and greet. Tariq is taking time out to take pics with everyone individually and autograph stuff also. I'm surprised how many people stayed for the meet and greet. Line is out the door. NYC definitely represented.
