Friend is teaching in Dallas and will be pulling almost $70k...that's just regular elementary and a few years experience. Teachers can make good money in the right city but they work MUCH harder for their money than an equivalent salaried job.

The fact he was only making $43k tells me he's in (probably) a red state and lower COL area where Walmart has more juice than any employer. $55k for any managerial gig is not enough. People can make 2x or 3x that much and not manage a single person.

Prison wardens are important too. Should they recieve our praise? Depends on how you look at it I guess.
Good point. And after careful consideration yes they definitely should be well paid. They too have a very important job. But just the same as teachers, their professionalism and performance should reflect their generous salaries. The 3 P's (performance, professionalism, and paycheck)should all be in harmony. So all that fukk shyt they are notorious for needs to be bushed indefinitely. In fact, just like doctors, all these important careers should require these workers take an oath. And betraying that oath should have dire consequences.

At the end of the day, though, even the most menial jobs should pay a livable wage at the very least. When u get up to go to work, and pay ur taxes, u are participating in keeping our society functioning. Even the dude who washes ur car or makes ur french fries.

If one breaks the law they are said to have a debt to pay to society. So if we help society function one could argue society owes a debt to us.

When society comes to collect for our transgression they not only take all the money they can get from us, we literally pay them in blood with significant amounts of our very lives. Why should they expect to get away with paying their debt to us in peanuts?

As someone who spent years working retail (As an employee, manager, and as an owner) , I question dude's decision. Dude is gonna miss nearly every family gathering (Because they all occur on weekends), He'll work every holiday except Christmas and Thanksgiving. And he'll leave Thanksgiving dinner early. He'll have to quit to see any significant wage increases. There is no job security in retail and turnover is high, even amongst store management. His District/Regional manager will always be looking for dude's replacement, then offer that person less money. I know a woman who was a general manager of a retail clothing store. She beat all metrics for the 2 years she worked as GM, but because the brand as a whole was suffering, they closed her store and demoted her to assistant at another store. In the long run, he'd been better off teaching, while using Summers to get his Masters, or skills for another career. Avoid Retail unless you own the business.

Lowkey one of the most important jobs there is. These men and women are 50+% responsible for raising our children for 12+ of their most impressionable years.

We let these institutes pay them less than a Walmart employee and yet we wonder why society is taking a nose dive into a septic tank:snoop:
Honestly the 50% and 12+ years is the biggest problem, you basically aren’t even really raising your kid when they spend that much time under another adult. We created an over reliance on using schools as day care and now the system is very overwhelmed

This just means every other teacher also wants out but hasn't found a way..yet.
Your kids are in the care of people who are disgruntled and underpaid, few are committed.
