This x1000. They didn't need to change their offense. They just needed a running back. Lazy recruitment at running back cost them their qb. Then, lazy recruitment at oline and other positions leads to 5-7, 8-5, and 9-4, subpar conference records, no BCS berths, no contending for conference championships, losing back to back games to Baylor and Oklahoma State, losing all three with two being blowouts to your number 1 rival, and getting owned by Kansas State year, after year, after year. Texas fans should be ok with this mediocrity? :smh:

Exactly, nikkas think we should accept mediocrity :rudy:

..he comes across like he cares about the kids almost more than the game.....BUT at the same time, it's impossible to be THAT nice and be able to recruit as well as he has and have the success he's had in his career. CFB is a cut-throat business. Does he have a dark side? Does he have goons doing his dirty work?

Ask Sherrod Harris :jawalrus:

A lot to address here.

First of, this was always going to be a small class. If we got the two DTs Billing, and Robinson then no one would be saying much. Per recruit it isn't that bad, and we cleaned up across the OL which is where the most help is needed going forward. While this class is small that doesn't make it abysmal. We took a small class in 05 and on paper that class was lackluster at the time, but check out the hit rate on that one.

Five things hurt this program tremendously.

First, was Mack selling his soul to Garrett fukking Gilbert. Its the reason they didn't go all out on Luck, and offered RG3 as a DB. Mack handed the keys to the team to GG as a high school junior, and pretty much gave him the team once Colt got hurt. Remember the MNC versus bama. Instead of going to a running QB(Harris) and running some zone read or a motion offense he stuck with GG despite all the turnovers. Yea we almost one that game but that says more about Bama that year than GG.

Secondly, not cleaning house of his good ole boys sooner than he did. His staff had become lazy. I doubt any of them actually did any recruiting besides looking at the recruiting sites. McWhorter, Kennedy, Davis etc.... all sucked at their jobs

Third, the HCIW debacle that was Will Muschamp. If everything had aligned and Colt had not gotten hurt, we likely win that game and Mack rides out to the sunset. But Colt got hurt and we loss. Mack decided to stay, I'm guessing because he though GG would just pick up where Colt left off. Muchamp said fukk it and jumped at the next opportunity. Which leads me too....

Why in the fukk would Mack think switching to a power running game in Texas, in the fukking Big 12 would be a good idea. Why did he want more of an SEC type defense. Dude turned worse than the SEC fan club on this site and hopped on the SEC's nuts and decided he would turn his team into an SEC molded team. Well Mack you don't fukking play in the SEC week in and out. Took him 3 years to figure this out and now the offense is changing again.

And last of all Mack is just to fukking nice. Juice boxes and orange slices for everyone. He refuses to negative recruit against other schools and at any hint of any type of shady business going on and the recruit is cut off. Times are changing and I'm not saying he should start cheating but he should learn to bend the rules. Either that or start reporting violations and piss everyone off. Crazy thing is, if we wanted to pay to play, we could easily outbid everyone.

With all that said, Texas Longhorn athletics overall is just in fukking shambles, from football on down. Only things successful is mens swimming, golf, and the womans volleyball team. The athletic department needs to be cleaned out, starting with Dodds, and including Mack and Rick Barnes. Yes they built our programs to where they are now, but that doesn't mean those fukks get to burn it down before leaving either.

Oh and Mack will be coaching for his job in that Oklahoma game this year. Him and his entire staff.

^^ yep. The Garrett Gilbert thing is still haunting Texas. The lazy recruiting is next in line. After Jamal Charles, Texas decided not to get the best of the best at every position. They became extremely arrogant in their choices and it resulted in a 5-7 season and losing Muschamp. Sad thing is, RG3 wanted Texas too. I don't know if they had a shot at Luck though. He wanted to go out of state.

You don't just concede a talent like Luck though. He came in on a visit(unofficial), which meant he was at least willing to listen, but we did not put forth any effort. That speaks on the lazy recruiting as well. If there was ever a team that didn't capitalize on recruiting after winning a championship it was Texas after the 05 season. Recruiting from 06-09 was terrible.

Mack gotta go. UT has more resources than any other team in the nation. No one is close,. There's no reason that they shouldn't be winning the Big 12 every year and that they can't find a QB in the most QB heavy state in the nation.

Michigan and ohio state are like 2 and 3 in terms of resources and they're off by like $100 million of (nfl style) valuation :mindblown:

and they were top in recruiting regardless of what source you use :russ:

It's the 90's all over again. :manny: When A&M was better than Texas.

LOL @ firing Mack Brown. :skip: He came in and crush the recruiting building. He was taking players away from OU and A&M. Texas hasn't won a national championship in 30 years until Mack Brown came.

This is why I hate UT and their falsely entitled fans. Just like Texas basketball never done shytt until Rick Barnes came. But Texas fans also want him to go. :snoop:

Thats all fans tho

If Texas really wanted Luck they would've got him. Unlike a lot of these schools, you can get your cake and eat it too in terms of academics and sports if you want to do that.

That's why UT has so much damn potential. There's nothing it doesn't offer. If we had Texas-level endowments and money...:ohlawd:

Cam would've been driving an F430 Spider around school instead of a scooter. :wow:
