LMAO! They HURT! Yeah DC rent is finesse. I could afford that shyt, but I said its a waste. IDGAF about bar hopping and overpriced restaurants.

At least they have balconies in more spots in bethesda tho...my coworker and his wife be chilling on they shyt everyday.

Im in Wheaton; dont have a balcony but Im thankful for these huge azz windows and my apartments position, I get alot of direct sunshine and too watch the sunrise from every morning.
Its fuxing majestic.Im mad they closed our rooftop deck tho...they need to open that shyt back up...its huge and its lets folks be outside.

I bet you live on Georgia ave like me. Im pretty sure I know the apts you might be in :jbhmm:

I got an apt on Georgia in downtown silver spring. My apt small af but the top floor balcony at night with all the lights :blessed:.

Only thing bad is the fukkin construction sirens every 15mins and the ruffians making on the streets arguing

My apartment in the middle of my downtown kicks ass but I have easy access to bike trails and there is literally no one around me. It's like I Am Legend down here. My dog and I have the run of the place. LOL

I used to own a home and I am good on that.

My mortgage payment on my half-million dollar house is like $1700.

Go 'head. Humble-stunt, breh.

$3k / a month high rise apartment gang checking in here

Have fun in your house when society breaks down and a band of miscreants comes and tries you and your folk. Hope you stocked up on ammo before shyt went scarce. I'll enjoy my security here on the 40th floor with protected elevator access.

I still got my views man :mjcry: I may not be able to get to the skygym, use the spa / pool, or use the rooftop lounge & deck, but I still got my views dammit :mjcry:

2500/mo for rent ain't bad if you can afford it. If you're renting that for a year or 2. Have some fun living city life it's not that serious. but if you're paying that much rent for 10+ years.

I mean I can definitely see the appeal of living downtown where all the action and hoes be at. A house will never compare to the energy of the city, but who wants a cramp condo after a night out? And I'm the territorial type, I prefer my living quarters separate away from people. And I ain't trying to ride no elevator with fools in my face:scust:

Low key the house brehs winning right now.

My home is a castle, so the quarantine is comfy

If your house ain't a castle you ain't living right

Imaging losing your job in this day and age and being stuck paying like 2 grand for rent :picard:

the reality of having to downgrade just might make some of these people consider committing that. But if think they’d do some delusional shyt first like draining their 401k and/or savings (if they have it).

but at $2500 a pop, you are literally wasting $ just to be miserable at home wondering if you’ll die from a virus or get evicted after going broke.

Oh well

can’t relate

I know dome folks in here balk at 2k, but a lot of the cats Ive known who can afford that have real money. It aint 80k a month cats sitting in those apartments, so if they wanted a home, they could damn well have em. This is in Chicago though so I cant speak for other cities.

nah breh 2,000 for rent is different than 2,000 for mortgage
worse comes to worse you can sell your house maybe at worst break even

when its rent you jsut keep pouring and pouring into a glass thats broken

DC/Texas/Chicago
Chicago is NYC, SF status

Houston and Atlanta are not
Depends where in Houston and Atlanta. I have a friend in Houston that’s paying 1900 for a 1 bedroom in Houston. If it’s the newer modern apartments, especially inside the loop in Houston, you’re likely paying those same coast and Chicago prices or coming very close.

edit*
Or were you talking about the type of cities these two are. If that is the case, I agree.

The southern suburbs compared to the northern suburbs are night and day. Theres no development in the south and none coming.
That's too broad of a statement, they're developing like crazy here in jacksonville (I know what youre thinking, yes it's lame af, but it is getting modernized frankly well, ironically everywhere but downtown) Charlotte is growing, the Atlanta metro has to have expansion due to the influx of people moving there

I mean tbh I don't see much of a difference in northern vs southern suburbs, they all got the same shyt, Walmarts every 5-10 miles, a towncenter, community colleges, etc. And even then when people say north they really just mean Philly the DMV and nyc anyway, I'd rather live in Georgia than new Hampshire.

They got me fukked up. I’d live deep in Silver Spring, Hyattsville or Gaithersburg before I’d ever pay $3,000 for a 500 sq foot closet in the city.

Not necessarily true. I would like to own but the longest I've spent in a city continually in the last decade has been 2.5 years. I've been able to break my lease and pick up and move when opportunity calls, and Ive tripled my salary doing so. Buying a home in other places I've lived (LA, for example) would've meant having a huge liability OR adding an hour commute when I was already busting ass. Tradeoffs.

You can, of course, also pay more on your mortgage than your house is really worth if your neighborhood and / or the economy goes to shyt. Which we may see here in a little bit.

All in all it comes down to an individual's finances and place in life. I can still afford to buy a home in most markets AND pay for my current apartment so it's all situational.
