nope

a genre, that used to appeal to everyone, has been hi-jacked by a group of fringe fans, and the Japanese studios cater to this very small collection of fans at the expense of people like me.

it's actually the other way around. The world doesn't revolve around anime avatars. The Japanese developers could have easily came up with the Mass effects or fallout 3s of the last gen, but they catered to the fringe base.

I gave up on jrpgs after suikoden 3, that was already stripped down enough (world map gone, exploration gone). Mass effect 1 the rpg I played in a long time, and it was a breath of fresh air. Everything I liked rpgs was back and in full force, the took all that away with me2 but that is another story.

the j-devs took away the things that I liked (custom builds and sense of adventure and exploration), and stripped it down to cater to the anime avatars who like cut scenes, love stories, "waifu", and "cutesy" garbage.

that's why from soft is king because that don't cater to.that crowd.

Yeah, P much 95 percent of JRPGs I have purchased after FFXII are everything you just said. I bit the bullet on a lot of these games, and they were all ass. Plus the ones that actually were aightt didnt get the mass support or huge budget (ie lost oddysey, nier). At this point its really hard for me to be sold on a JRPG on release. I will definitely wait it out and make sure it isnt some BS.

I been getting my JRPG dose with Legend of heroes on PC, hadn't heard of this until recently and it's the most fun I've had in a JRPG since the late 90's. Translated sequel also just dropped!

Famitsu has published the latest in its series of character introduction trailers for Spike Chunsoft and tri-Ace’s upcoming Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky. The new video introduces Himuro Suzaku.

Exist Archive is a side-view RPG in the vein of Valkyrie Profile developed by tri-Ace, the developers of Valkyrie Profile. It is set in modern day Tokyo / on the planet Protolexa. One day, an explosion in Tokyo caused by the evil god Yamatoga kills the game’s 12 heroes, including protagonist Kujo Kanata. As a result, those 12 become immortal and harbor within them the soul of the evil god, and get wrapped up in the gods’ quarrels.

Previous character videos have introduced Ogami Ren, Yasakata Mitsuhide, Nagi Koharu, Kiriya Tokihisa, Tsukishiro Mayura, Miwakawa Ranze, and Kujo Kanata.

The game is due out for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in Japan on December 17.

This is what happens when Playstation takes over the game. Out with the casual shooter garbo, in with that Japanese piff. :banderas:

THIS!!!!!! When Sony's on top the Japanese unload with the JRPG's which is why I will always fukk with Sony over Microsoft. fukk I bought an xbox one thinking that maybe just maybe they might prove me wrong and lockdown some exclusive Japanese titles looks like I was wrong about that. Oh well just goin to have to enjoy there first party titles.
