False, he hit HR's at Comerica and will play RF well. He's going to strike out a lot, but a .320 OBP/22 HR's/.440 SLG in RF is fine.
If he signs with the Mets, I doubt the Wilpons do anything else of note, given Sandy said 30 M will be the most they add to payroll.
Regardless, I shouldn't get my hopes up, because FO already lowered expectations with Abreu and not being in on Ellsbury/Choo.

Marlon Byrd signs 2 yr deal/16 mil with the Phillies.
Not a bad deal, he won't slug .500 next season. However if he posts .320 OBP/.420 SLG with decent defense it's gravy. Kudos to Byrd getting paid.
