I felt the same. Minter gives off a calm, calculated, authentic vibe that feels way more in line with Lamar and Kyle. Harbaugh’s intensity started to look like panic in big moments, and the whole team pressed. A zen HC might be our Phil-Jackson effect.

This clip perfectly sums up what went wrong with Orr’s defense. Being exotic and disguising looks sounds great, but here the “cute” -snap stuff just takes our best players out of what they do well and puts nobody in a position to win.
Archuleta basically shows how our disguises ended up confusing the Ravens more than the QB (Drake Maye)

His comment about a defense being a QB best friend really stood out.

As we’ve seen during the playoffs QB’s have made plenty of mistakes but their defense has kept them around. In the case of the Chargers & Texans, the defense held on as long as they could.

With the Patriots, Drake Maye hasn’t been terrible but he hasn’t been amazing either and his team is in the SB.

The OC comment is telling too. Making shyt easier

Do they go after Doyle from the Bears or make a good offer to Scheelhaase? Even with a promotion to OC, Scheelhaase still won’t be calling plays with the Rams.

More than anything I hope with this upcoming season we see they can close out games decisively. They don’t need to blow out a bunch of teams but you gotta get away from “heart attack” ravens.

We should be able to have no worries in the 4th quarter after they’ve been up by 2 scores the whole game and not have the fear of the other team coming back.

Every quarterback besides Lamar Jackson to play in at least 8 playoff games has gotten 8+ turnovers from his defense. Lamar has gotten 1. He’s also never started a drive with better field position than I think his own 35 yard line. Meanwhile we see some quarterbacks throw for 123 yards with 2 picks in a Super Bowl and win. We see some quarterbacks win multiple conference title games where they throw multiple picks. Have to make plays on both sides of the ball. A defense that doesn’t get the quarterback or the ball while never flipping the field isn’t that helpful in the playoffs.

Minter will connect with the players and is a great teacher. I can see the players committing themselves to him and his scheme. Ravens will have multiple pro bowlers and atleast 1 maybe 2 all pros on defense this year.

More importantly, I hope Minter creates an environment for the players to police themselves and hold each other accountable. Coaches can get on you about messing up, but its different when a teammate does it. This creates space for alphas to emerge. Every team needs atleast one a$$hole too. Chiefs have Bienemy again, he's their a$$hole. Ravens had Mike McCrary back in the day. They need guys like that in the locker room to turn these guys into finishers and push people.
