I agree with Mariah

It almost impressive how bad Mariah's Glitter album is

songs that should have worked.....just didn't....how do you fukk up funking for jamaica? the single dropping on 9/11 wasn't even in the top ten of the things wrong with that song and the album in general

its career endingly BAD if it came out she was smoking crack during that time I'd believe it

Not LL "walking with a panther" isn't as bad as people say it is album has some wack shyt (all those love songs back to back) but it has actual classic songs on it I know LL's image/rep was at a low point but nahhhh panther just wasn't that bad

Dre 2001 was dre giving up and stepping back to a gangsta stereotype persona he wanted nothing to do with at that point

the music was good but I preferred this

Easily the Emancipation of Mimi.

Hard to find an artist with a bigger comeback album.

And I don't know if this would qualify, but personally, No Limit Top Dogg by Snoop.

The Doggfather was a significant drop off from Doggystyle and his NL debut seemed like he just wanted to drop an album, but when I 1st heard NL Top Dogg, I was like :wow:

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
If we’re talkimg strictly HIP HOP then Mama Said Knock You Out is the best comeback album.

Stillmatic isn’t a comeback album. Nastradamus was viewed as disappointing but the man was coming off TWO platinum albums released within the same year. He was only the second rapper at the time to ever achieve that feat.
Pac did it before DMX. And DMX did it before Nas.

Speak for urself.

Nas was ice cold in 01

he dropped hints that he still had the goods (guest verse on Jada's album, freestyle on Clue tape) but he was not on fire like he was in early to mid 99

It's not that Nas got worse as a rapper, it was a 2 yr break in between solo albums...and a lot changed in that timeframe

Jigga was the king of rap, Ja Rule was selling albums, DMX was selling albums, Jada went solo, Beans and Jada beef captured the streets attention, Nelly was going diamond, Em was going diamond, Dre dropped 2001, Snoop dropped some heat on No Limit, Cash Money came to prominence

It was just a lot happening in rap...and Nas got lost in the shuffle

He restaked his position with Stillmatic though

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
You got to have multiple duds for it to be a comeback. Nas had an average album with Nastradamus. Imagine if Cormega or AZ has dropped that same exact album, it would be fine. And was still in that phase where nikkas was made he couldn’t make another illmatic

I don’t even know about Mariah because it was the Glitter movie that bombed and then the TRL appearance with the ice cream that made her look crazy. Her music was doing fine, she had hits with Cam and Jay at that time. All she did was focus exclusively on that instead of other stuff and she was back on top.

Aftermath was a compilation. He was telling the truth when he said his last album was the Chronic.

Mama Said Knock You Out might be the answer here. LL had no motion.
I been going back and forth about Aftermath but Dre took it too far..........

He switched his whole style up. No more cussing. No more gangsta rap. He been there, done that.... He even produced another lukewarm album with The Firm... Dre himself said it wasn't really him. "It was just okay. That was a hit and miss." More broadly, Dre explained, "That point of my life, musically, it was just off balance. I was off track then and trying to find it. It was a period of doubt. . . It happens with artists. Everything isn't going to be out of the park."

He definitely fell all the way off. Nobody was checking for Dre. We were shocked to see him with Em, but those beats still wasn't DRE. 2001 dropped, Snoop in the video, Nate Dogg and the crew back on cali classics.... Gangsta shyt back!! Nothing but more elite Dre beats and the songs to match.

That was definitely a comeback. He literally switched his style up and denounced that shyt and had to go right back to it
