The Buss family have sold Majority ownership (48%) of the Lakers for $4.8 Billion, Franchise valued at $10 Billion. Family still owns 18% stake.

Where are people coming up with this assertion that the Lakers don't spend money? They're one of the highest spending teams in a league with a salary cap. This isn't the MLB where you can pay whatever you want and defer hundreds of millions of dollars. I understand the luxury tax and apron levels, but it's not like they are cheapskates.
They’re behind in the behind the scenes ways. I haven’t listened to Locked on Lakers Pete Diaz, or Anthony Irwin in quite a while but from my recollection, they’ve gotten outbid on scouts, their scout dept has relatively less funds to work with, and they cheaped out on Dan Hurley’s offer. There’s plenty of pieces out there you can easily find.

Does this mean Rob and Jeanie still have jobs?

I know Rob trading for Luka locked down his seat, but you never know with a new owner, he might want his own new faces running things from a management perspective.

Jeanie goes from boss to employee, sure she's 10 billion dollars richer but y'know how egos are especially after being in the top seat for soo long.
Mark already owned 20 percent of the Lakers. He’s not really a new owner.

Our payrolls were always top tier but they were shortchanging everything else

Nah they probably realize that team valuations are inflated and it's a good time to cash out.

Jordan
Cuban
the Boston guys
now the Buss family

I get it, esp the ones like MJ and the Buss descendants that in both cases probably had 75-90% of their billionaire valuation tied to the team they owned. Even Cuban prob had like 2/3rd of his valuation tied to the Mavs. Might as well cash out now and bow out.

I don’t think Dolan would ever sell the status. He seems to me to be one of those owners where the power and control damn near matters as much as the money

Dolan is a bit more diversified. Plus the Knicks, Rags & more specifically MSG are key to his family's other main business. He ain't selling as long as he's alive.
