Punk got comprehensively dealt with but to try and use the fact he never once thought he'd not win against him is ridiculous.

If you go into anything with the mindset you might not win/complete it then you've lost before you even start

It goes way beyond that. You saw his skills. It didn't dawn on him that he wasn't ready and shouldn't be fighting. He paid for the best, so he assumed he was going to win. If he hadn't have been injured, he would have fought a year ago. Imagine how bad he would have looked with a year LESS training. And then was copping attitudes with people who didn't think he was ready, basically being a full on "my mentality, bro" doucher. Pretty sure he said multiple times "the thing about me is, I don't give up". And then gave up in the first round.

Dude was WILDLY outmatched by basically the closest thing to an amateur UFC could get for him, had sky high expectations for his career, already talking about stringing together a series of wins to get a title shot a year in advance of his first fight. Dude was skipping work outs the week of the fight because he didn't want to do them. He doesn't realize that he had a bunch of yes men around him for 2 years riding the gravy train, and it got him cocky. Realizing he played himself probably is what made him cry more than "letting people down".

I follow the dude who wrote this. He kinda been having an axe to grind with Punk last couple of years since the UFC annoucement on some Woj/Bron shyt tbh

Look, of course people should do the smaller divisions/amateur MMA promotions first but its like Dana came to him with the offer and he bucket list the shyt. Like Im kinda surprised everyone has forgotten that including Dana himself tbh

Whoever wrote that article clearly has an agenda:francis:

Nikkas got hate in they heart for Punk. The notion that he went in there arrogantly without thinking he might get his ass kicked, is asinine. Especially if you payed attention to the build up to the fight

It's not a false narrative. Punk actually hadn't considered that he was going to lose until he didn't even get one punch off. Dude was legitimately talking about title fights a year before he even had this fight. Dude paid probably 5 times as much to train with top guys than what his opponent got paid and still got utterly, utterly demolished and didn't even see it coming. Did you see the shyt where someone mentioned his great hot tub, and he was like "Oh, it's just a normal hot tub", as if it is normal for poor ass fighters to have hot tubs.

Dude lives in Oprah's building in Chicago. Very first vid has him saying he could do the drive to camp because he made longer ones on the indies all the time. Immediately just bought a place up there instead. Dude was operating financially on such a level that he had no idea the privileged and advantage he had. And he had the nerve to be cocky about it for some reason.
This is the cockiness that people don't like about Punk.

There's a point where confidence becomes arrogance and most people don't really know that point and it becomes compounded when those same men have means or are successful in some way shape or form.

On the flip side, UFC is about the $$$, so Massa White did his very best to make sure the PPV buys were executed and that the tickets were sold. We couldn't honestly believe that CM Punk of all people would go into that shyt and not sell the shyt up a teensy tiny bit...I mean he's a pro wrestler for crying out loud lol

Dana got what he wanted, Punk (I hope) got what he wanted and most of The Coli and TSC is better for not having paid for that shyt.

Punk's high sense of entitlement shouldn't surprise anyone. He has always thought that he is better than everyone else and if things don't go EXACTLY the way he wants them to go then it's because everyone is out to get him.

He's needed his ass beat for a very long time and that day finally came, but at this point dude just needs to go sit somewhere and get some mental help.

Gonna say this article is extremely bias. Punk has said he expected to start at lower levels of pro MMA. UFC offered him a deal....why would he turn that shyt down? Secondly this was a huge draw, I know I would not have watched this PPV if this fight wasnt on the card, I wanted to see Punk get fukked up just like everyone else. And finally this elevated Mickey Gall like a motherfukker. Who would have gave a shyt about this kid before this? It did a lot for his career despite it being easy as fukk for him. Think some of these MMA neckbeards take this shyt a little too seriously.

Hopefully, Punk can follow through and do low level MMA/BJJ.
