:wtf:

Dude said he'd rather have Deng over Hayward and Turner, and I said that was pushing it considering age and the contracts they will be signing + years.

I even said it was a good move to pick up Deng, but long term he is not a better option than either of those guys.

Deng had been more productive and contributed to wins on a good team. These other guys haven't proven anything. Would rather have Deng.

If you think those guys are better long term. Fine. But that's very debateable. Don't really see the need to make an argument in this thread about it.

Deng is a proven veteran commodity. He has a place on this Cavs team in the short and long term.

A few small injuries? Excluding the shortened season, he misses 13 games a year, and him being better than Hayward right now doesn't mean he'll be better than him 3 years from now when he's about to turn 32, and Hayward is turning 27.

You think he's going to get more durable the older he gets? He's going to want 4-5 years from the Cavs, and they will more than likely overpay/over extend to keep him.

I just don't see it with Hayward the way everybody else does. I think Deng playing reasonable minutes is twice the player that Hayward is and I'd much rather end up overpaying him than Hayward regardless of age. And if they're keeping Waiters, I don't like the Turner fit as much either since that would give them three players needing the ball in their hands while Deng has proven to be affective with or without the ball.

I don't mind this deal for the Bulls or Cavs.

Breh, I think it's a good move for the Cavs, but saying he's better LONG term than two productive guys that are 23 and 25 is just pushing it to me.

I like Turner's game, look at the Sixers play, they have 3 guys (Wroten) on the floor at times that need the ball and it works, and none of them are shooters on the level of Irving or even Waiters.

Hayward is a point forward, so he and Kyrie would actually be a good mesh IMO. I like the Deng deal, the only reason I mentioned Hayward and Turner is because my breh of brehs @jaguar paw brought them up.

Short term, yes you'd rather have Deng. Over 5 years I'd probably take Turner or Hayward

I'd end up leaning toward the youngers players too but neither one of them is going to give you the defense you KNOW Deng is gonna give you. Even when he's 33 he'll be able to guard the opponent's best perimeter player. I don't know anyone who guards Lebron better than Deng. It's a closer call than you think.

Got you. I love Turner's game too. Just not with the Cavs. I don't see Kyrie coming off the ball enough for Turner to truly be effective playing next to him. None of the other guys in Philly are as ball dominant as Kyrie.

My dude, you're going a bit far with this, 33 and able to guard the opponents best player :ld:

Point out all the great 30+ perimeter defenders in the league right now.

Its not that farfetched. Battier and Tony Allen to name 2. Not to say they're shutting their man down every night but there's a reason some of these guys hang around. Deng has the length and experience (:shaq:) to be a capable stopper after he turns 30

If Turner is so valuable then Philly should keep him like the Bulls did when Deng was at that age.

Same for Hayward.

But neither Philly or Utah will because they know there are two sides to the court and paying either Turner or Hayward 40+ mill is as equal of a risk as paying a proven two-way player like Deng the same amount at 29 years old.

Battier isn't a great defender anymore, and Allen is already seeing slippage :ld:

It's a good move, but now it's starting to get a little irrational :whoa:

Optimistic But I Got Hands Tho

Based on what is available now and in free agency in 2014 Loul is the best fit for what they need. They really need leadership and experience. They thought they were getting that with Jarrett Jack. Hayward and Turner can't offer that. This team is extremely immature and unpolished.

I'm ok with them re-signing Deng to a 3-4 year deal as long as they draft a SF that they can develop in the 2014 draft.
