The Clipse grew up middle class, no struggle but gravitated to the drug game ... is this common?

The east in new orleans was/is considered the suburbs and its full of hood people and crime now

in new orleans projects were knocked down and the people who lived was moved to different parts of the city, and the areas are still considered middle class but crime every where

same way kenner and meteria is considered a suburb was new orleans but they have major hood parts

Yeah, it's extremely common. :yeshrug:

Rappers like to give the impression that everybody that's gang-involved or in the drug-game grew up poor or in the projects, but that's never been true. As somebody from Detroit I know people doing bids now that had it pretty good growing up and now are doing a bid because they got caught up in peer pressure and shyt. Or because they glorified that type of shyt. And likewise, there are plenty of people that had it rough growing up that the coli would probably consider lame or square because they never got involved in that life at all and just went to college and got a 9-5.
Yeah I've lived in middle class areas all of my life and there's plenty of dudes getting caught up in dumb shyt. Granted, where I live in McDonough, GA is kinda "hood adjacent" and there's shytty neighborhoods scattered throughout the otherwise middle class city but that's kinda the point - those things can suck average kids in.

I lived in Spring Valley, NY for a while and there was plenty of nonsense going on around there. Apparently it got worse after I moved, too.

Couple cacs in here clearly never been to a miami hood or project if they think having a pool or basketball hoop In front of their house means its not hood.

these guys just keep exposing themselves....

:what: son u dont how many people have fukked up home and financial situations with 2 parents in it? I had both my parents and I was born and raised in the hood and struggled. shyt I was doing worse than some people I know with only one parent. Bottom line. Ain't no way in hell Drake had a harder life than Pusha. That's what this is about. nikkas could have a house and all that shyt and still live check to check.

that nikka is a closet Drake dikkrider....he tries to act like hes not but he is.....

It’s not a suburb. Maybe at one point they could have been considered first ring suburbs. 100,000 people live there, they have a downtown. It’s nicknamed the Hub City. Why is it a suburb because of suburban sprawl and houses? They have a mayor. Decatur isn’t a “suburb” either, these are just small cities outside of large cities.

It’s like me being from NYC and saying Mt. Vernon and Yonkers are suburbs.
Word, and a good chunk of Decatur is the hood, especially the south side. I drive through there on the way to Atlanta for school every day and a lot of those areas are GHASTLY, lemme tell you :mjlol:. The fukkin' major chain fast food spots have their windows tinted up and buzz customers in cuz they get robbed too much :russ:

the low end. southside chi
Did ya'll even listen to Lord Willin??
It was a combination of factors: 1. When they got to VA their cousins were already heavily involved (John John and Jamal). 2. Their grandmother was moving weight similar Madame Queen in Hoodlum 3. Consuming violent media at a young age such as Yosemite Sam and Miami Vice pushed them over the edge

Do you fools listen to music etc etc...
:wow: and thats just the inro

Sorry breh I can't keep track of everyone quoting me.:yeshrug:I assume majority are cacs on here.

:ehh:I checked out those listings. We wouldn't consider that the hood/projects where I'm from, but I never been to MIA. I guess pools arent luxuries down there.

:salute:For the props on the music though.

Ha! I grew up in that neighborhood. 2045 NW 191 Terrace.

Kinda hood, but not really. Most kids either had two working parents, or a single mom that was a professional. It wasn't kids out there growing up legit "poor".

However, you had to hold your own up in there. My next door neighbor got killed in a drug deal gone bad. No fake thuggery, just some Haitian hustler dude that wanted a quick buck.

The reason why some of these homes have nice amenities/pools is because they were at one time middle class white neighborhoods, but because they were affordable, middle class blacks moved in, driving the property values down. Eventually the s**t turns into a blend of suburb and hood. I live in Charlotte now, and I see it happening as we speak. My subdivision was lily white 10 years ago, and now is majority black. It's cool now, but the real estate market turns on neighborhoods like this and then they start to attract lower middle class people.

Yes. I grew up with nikkas like this. I come from a working/middle class background, and I know several brehs who got caught up in the drug game and prison. The entertainment industry sells us this bullshyt image of ourselves, and so many of us buy into it, thinking we need to be that. Furthermore, the chicks love it. Low-key, this is the reason why lots of people do it. That d-boy lifestyle brings fast money, popularity, and adventure. I've seen nerdy brehs transform into d-boy types overnight, and have hella h0es. However, pretty much all of them have spent time in prison, and have trouble getting their lives back on track.

btw, Pablo Escobar grew up in a middle class family in Columbia.

Money is just as appealing to middle class kids as it is to poor. I was just at my family reunion this weekend, where my uncle (six figure salary), was reiterating that his kids had "nothing", and everything was his. That house is his, the cars are his, and whatever mid-range clothing he chose to provide his children is his. So if his sons/daughter wants to have their own, or want to upgrade what they have access to, then dope dealing at 17-22 MAY seem more appealing than busting their behind for a chance at making loot in their late 20's or later.
