Nah, I saw living examples of people that done that shyt strictly for a paycheck. He had to go to therapy and on medication simply cause he wanted to make his mom and dad happy.
Well you surely pick extreme examples to create a general outlook.

ok...and philosophy died off when physics and neuroscience started kicking them when they were down.first of all stop saying BS degree, BS means bachelor of science, the degree you say to get, and youre just speaking in terms of today when im trying to put you in perspective of why humanities exist in the first place. without philosophy, we dont have math. without the relationship beetween math and physics, you dont have sciences. Everything has its place.
I would never pay money for a non engineering degree though![]()
i'm not a libertarian...but i'm not a completely mindless liberal either (although it might seem like it if you met me).Yo @Napoleon if you dont already, read some ayn rand. You would love atlas shrugged

@Eric Blair Whats your opinion on an Accounting degree?![]()
Its like religion, the first failed science. It tried to explain shyt...then we got philsophy. They tried to come up with some more things and hit a wall. Therefore biology, chemistry, physics...and now, neuroscience is killing off psychology.
no, he's not at MIT.Couldn't that be said for any field of knowledge? I just read about a 13 year old boy who taught himself how to build batteries and generators and is now sharpening his knowledge at MIT. I don't think the self-taught argument vs STEM thing is valid. Most of those STEM degrees don't exist without nerds and self taught scientist creating the fields in the first place.

I NEED some of you all to fail.
Thats just it.
We're not on the same level and its in my favor that some people don't recognize that.![]()
learning the humanities is...meh.You're confusing what I'm advocating. I'm not saying people should get a job based off their humanities, just that they should learn the humanities. Base level. I think most people should learn trades and skills in HS. No where did I say STEM and trade based jobs and skill-sets have no value.
If I were this young man, I'd aim to get my degree and seek to start my own business as the end goal, not be someone's asset like you will be for the rest of your life.
I told my average white boy friend to do it when he didnt know what to do. GPA and internships/networking are king in those management schools. Depends on where you go but I would recommend it. My stepmom is a CPA. my dad is a lawyer. When they married he made twice what she made, now she might make twice what he makes. Do the 5 year MS if offered. The work is very exciting and you will never be bored. Get good grades though. You can get into fortune 200, IB, all that from the big 4 especially and with the degree in general.

how is that wrong? This is all wrong.
no, he's not at MIT.
Unless he's a fulltime student, you're talking about that african kid who build the windmill.
He did a summer program and they just sent him back.
regardless, I don't see what beign "self taught" has to do with this.
Theres still a process to the madness and rules of practice to be adhered to.
That 13 year old is providing more direct value than a handful of english majors.
Thats cool if you want to major in english...but don't act like you deserve something because of it.
You keeping saying things like "process" and "method" which just means = "Hey I am a product of the system and I can't defend why it's fukked up but here let me try"
) doesn't value your skills.
Did your friend finish college and got an accounting B Degree?
how is that wrong?
We're just living on a ride of epistemology.
there are sciences who have done all they can do. Philosophy is one of them. Alchemy was one and psychology is about to be another.
Hell, even economics is being replaced by parts of game theory and neuroscience.
