The Wrong Side of the Tracks
Whole thing reminds me of several Sci-fi series I read a while back with the most pertinent to this thread being Larry Niven's Ringworld series, Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, and Jack L. Chalker's Saga of the Well World.

Ringworld and Foundation were comprehensible. Well World was a total mind-fukk crazier than Babylon 5.

The universe is unimaginably big. Like mind blowingly vast and huge. Even if a civilization had lightspeed travel they couldn't hope to begin to chart the galaxy for thousands of years. We are lucky no one has found us yet.
Well if string theory is real, an Alcubierre drive could move at a max of about 3.3 trillion trillion light years per second. So you could reach the edge of the observable universe in about 4 femtoseconds. Thats assuming a lot tho

the black cat is my crown...
it's interesting to consider the contrast between how intelligent an ant is versus how intelligent a human is and to consider the possibility that there is life out there that is so advanced that we're just an ant compared to it.... :wow:

however, an ant is aware of other lifeforms other than us that might be on the same level of intelligence as itself... so thinking of it that way, we might not be able to observe a life form far more advanced than us, but wouldn't we at least find life that was less advanced than us? ... hmm... so much to think about, so little time...

People assume faster than light travel and the ability to traverse worms holes and shyt. We don't have a theory of everything yet and until we do we won't even know if what I mentioned earlier is possible or not. If it isn't that's your answer right there, it would take them forever to get here.
We don't know enough about physics to even speculate.

FTL really depends on the nature of the universe. Also we have never really found a wormhole and even if we did we have no idea how to use negative energy or exotic matter. You're right we don't know and these questions will probably not be answered
