My favorite thing about the movies is how everybody thinks michael soft and they stay tryna undermine his power. And then this fukkker strikes like a cobra/rattlesnake and got everybody scrambling. :wow: GOAT character on film.

The flashbacks with Deniro as Vito show that he was the exact same way. He was the only child that inherited that gene.

If you watch the second one, peep the symbolism.

How when Mike embraced Fredo he always hugged him as if he was his father rather than his younger brother.

Michael was ice cold. Certain scenes you can see the frost coming out of his mouth.

Fredo in the fukked up creaky chair.

How both godfathers started off with parties, 1 was a celebration of family and culture, part two the family was breaking slowly, nobody knew the songs, the culture and attachment to the old country was waning.

Keep your friends close but your enemies closer was the theme that was shown repeatedly.

Apollonias death made him that way.

Michael gave zero fukks when that happened. He turned into the devil.

If you lose your woman prematurely.

It creates this.....

I have nO idea how to explain it.
Yet there is sumfin there unexplained. You personally hope does not have to be unleashed.
Gawd forbid whomever is ignorant enough to precipitate unleashing the unexplained.
I easily understand.
why Michael is Michael after that event.

Mike is soft and slow. Always two steps forward one step back. He does what's necessary typically after he's been burned. He wasn't like his pops. I've read the books more than I watched the movies. And I've seen the movies a lot.

Mike could never really trust his gut. Was always over thinking and he had more heart than he did brains. When he turned his heart off he was just left with the less brains.

Just had this conversation with my Pops a week ago. 2 has a slight edge, but it might as well be one movie because I always watch them back to back.

Santino's silly mistake talking during the meeting with Sollozzo 'The Turk' changed the whole trajectory of The Corleone Family. Giving away what Vito is thinking, which exposes the families vulnerability.

Ultimately it saved the family.

Without that lapse in judgement by Santino, his deficiencies as a leader would have remained hidden. Michael would have gone on the "straight & narrow" path and avoided the family biz.

Santino would have run shyt into the ground and Fredo wouldn't have been any better. Michael was always smarter, same as Vito.

Damn good point.

Mike was more logical and forward thinking but wasn't as good at reading people and predicting their actions or motivations. I think Mike has the edge when it comes to handling off-script bullshyt and surprised. Vito would be more prepared to avoid surprises.

The Fredo situation? Vito would've never let things get that out of pocket. He would have seen that shyt coming from 10 miles away.

Yeah...that's Mikey.

Vito had everyone where he could keep them and knew what they were doing. He had people keeping him informed and people keeping him informed on his informers. Mike should've have been told what Fredo was doing out there in Vegas. And called him back to the house or sent Tom or went himself and told him to quit being stupid.
