the 2nd verse of Nothing Last Forever is just amazing....

Nice cars, livin' like a star club hoppin'
Poppin' bottles at the bar love shoppin'
Gucci iceberg, coppin' two, three nice furs
One for your wife, one for your freak silver spurs
Rolls Royce too good to be true, houses worth 2.2
Pool parties beautiful view
You made it in life, Forbes Magazine style baggy jeans style
Pass the green while hoes wit' meanwhile
Asses, pretty mommies illest bodies pass glasses
Louis Roderra with Peach Schnapps you just relaxin'
Thinkin', "Damn, wish my nikkas could afford this"
On the sand at your Malibu house holdin' a cordless
Talkin' to lawyers accountants investments
Money doubles, triples protected hard work you manifested
Worries of failure, when you buried with your familia
Keep your name prosperin' to the maximum
You should live, there's only one life that's the physical
Rich or poor in jail why the fukk should you be miserable
Things happen for reasons, the clock keeps tickin'
Love could have your heart beat skippin', thugs turn to religion
The bytch you love could start to hate you
The shyt you use to do escape you
Things that make you laugh represent the past
Reminisce the block gamble gees on the floor
nikkas use to be the man, you don't see 'em no more
Your favorite restaurants and favorite stores, they tore 'em down
Turned 'em into shopping malls the hood is like a ghost town
Haunted by souls who thought that time stood still
Just live your life to the fullest, never look back, it's real

Incredible verse.... real talk though nas has set the bar so high by being consistently excellent. any other n!gga out there spits this and it's the greatest verse in their life. nas though.... this dude gives you several of these per album. the fans take it for granted too

First time I heard Lost Tapes I KNEW that Nas was the greatest rapper ever to pick up a Mic. This man's pirated/unreleased material is better than 97% of rapper's studio albums. The shyt is almost mind boggling how a set of cutting room floor material can sound so geniusly cohesive. From start to finish this compilation is a masterpiece of the genre. The only reason we can't genuinely call it Nas's third UNDEBATEABLE classic is because its a compilation, but it's somehow more than just a compilation. It's an audio snapshot of a career, a man's progression as well as a inkwell into his soul. Drunk By Myself is probably one of the most honestly human songs in Nas's celebrated discography. This is compilation is just one example of the thought process that Nas puts into his work. The original I Am Double Disc concept is an epic, sprawling, genius display of concept and imagination. Poppa Was A Player, Fetus, and Blaze A 50 are storytelling at its absolute finest. The Stillmatic recordings such as Purple, U Gotta Love It, and Black Zombies show a man in true harmony with his own sense of self as well as the world around him. Friends, enemies, fears, doubts, triumphs, and despairs are spoken about which such rich and detailed description that the pictures painted in ones mind as they listen are as crisp and vivid as if they were projected from a theater screen.
This Compilation of music is simply awe inspiring, if you ever were thinking of rapping or being a poet or having ANYTHING to do with spoken word, one need only listen to Lost Tapes to see how it SHOULD be done, because it honestly gets no better.

Salutes the God Nasir.

Funny I told myself the same thing especially when I heard purple and the black zombie chorus, I was like (at that time), "How can people even argue about who's better between Nas & Jay ?" At that time I was an eminem fan, I had stillmatic, my first Nas cd, thought it was good but nothing more, then the lost tapes came out and it just hit me, I KNEW Nas was the goat after hearing it and became a fan

He can paint a picture by using something as simple as a doo rag.
