Luka was gone no matter what because the Adelson/Dumont wanted to save $$$. Hence all those ticket hikes. Nico's personal relationship with Luka gave them cover.
You save money by keeping Luka.

Why do y’all keep pushing this false talking point?

He made the franchise more money than they could ever give him. They’re in a far worse financial position now because ticket sales have declined, sponsorship deals have been affected and they’ve got AD, Kyrie and Klay on the books not giving them anything.

The Mavs are projected to lose 9 figures over the next few seasons because of the trade. Now they’ve got to go through the arduous process of building a playoff team from scratch after literally going to the Finals.

Don't know why people act like Nico was the odd man out when it's been made clear the dude wanted this for awhile. Yes the owners have to give the OK but Nico wanted this too.

He fired the training staff who Luka liked, Mavs Axed Multiple Staffers Luka Doncic 'Liked' in Desperation for Conditioning Changes

Didn't even shop him around the league, then threw shots at him after he traded him
The way cacs are about their bread in corporate America, I’m just not believing he’s the one who made the call, Nico can say what he want, but he wants another job; he’s not gonna throw one of these owners under the bus.

Someone like Luka don’t get traded without folks in the building feeling some ways about him. The owners wanted him outta there too

Think I saw just the other day they didn’t sell out opening night or season tickets are at an all-time low

He also pushed for Cuban to be out the way because he was supposed to be handling GM duties supposedly for a little bit after he sold because he knew Cuban wouldn't go for it. Nico has to be the scapegoat imo because the new owners can't fire themselves. He most likely sweet talked the new owners into giving him ultimate power. The Dumont cat even said as much.

There are way too many comments and threads about this dude.

Let’s be clear here: nobody gives a fukk about Nico or the Mavericks.

This franchise only became relevant because Mark Cuban was a high profile owner and because Dirk Nowitzki developed into a star.

They’re gone now and this franchise is back to being a worthless backwater just like when they were running Rolando Blackman and Sam Perkins.
So a team without its superstar is irrelevant? You don’t say. How were the Spurs after the Timmy, Manu, and Parker years?

Mavs are paying a combined $106 mil this season to AD/Kyrie/Klay for all 3 to give them nothing, but hey at least they didn’t give $70 mil to the guy averaging 37/9/9 :leon:

"Yeah they did you dirty big dog, don't worry I'll hit you off with a little something. I might got a little pull here and you can be my cap guy."

All jokes aside he does deserve a position with the Lakers.

Rob played his “boy” and Nico will never see another GM job because of it

On top of all that Luka hates his ass so he can’t even grab his rightful position with the Lakers
