This is like saying the Nuggets and Mavericks drafted Jokic and Brunson in the 40s so you shouldn’t trade second round picks .

But yeah Orlando should just hold Paolo and Franz back in hopes they hit the 1% odds of drafting a borderline all-star guard who won’t reach that level for 3-4 years.

paolo as the primary ballhandler is a big reason why orlando's offense never threatens a serious defense. suggs is a quality defender and athletic guard, but that offense has never built traction.

i don't even dislike suggs tbh. he just shouldn't be your lead guard the same way that a young lowry shouldn't be

Ask Phoenix, Milwaukee or Brooklyn would they rather have their control of their picks again and see what they say.

Ask the Utah Jazz about having a bunch of picks. What have they done for them

Meanwhile the team who gave Utah all those picks went to the WCF back to back years AND they trying to trade for KD.

If Orlando doesn't do anything but be the 8th seed for 5 years Memphis won't even get a lottery pick out of this.

You mean the same team that had to give up KAT for salary cap reasons and constantly dealing with questions as to whether they can afford to keep that core together?

The new CBA makes it cost prohibitive to keep teams together and that you can't afford to pay everyday. Orlando is going to end up in that same boat these next couple of years especially when that Paolo max kicks in after next season.

There is no 5 year core anymore under this new CBA

and I like it for Memphis too because Memphis, FWIW, knows how to draft for the most part and some of us have discussed maybe moving Ja, maybe moving JJJ because he might be too expensive. They roll 10-11 deep. They have a new coach who might wanna do something different. They found Bane at 30. They found Wells in round 2. I'd have to look at what they need immediately now

Orlando's a good team with a core in place, young talent that already can't play because there's no time and with a major weakness: their jump shot. Now Bane is there. In theory he's what they need. Now, we thought KCP could be that and he sucked. We thought they could develop their own guys to shoot and outside of Suggs that hasn't happened.

The only thing I don't like about the trade was that they shoulda fought to get rid of #25 as well instead of a future one (and regardless, start moving some of these useless ass players like Houstan, Jett Howard). Orlando has no business in this draft. Had they stayed they probably woulda took Egor Demin or some dude like that. They got a type: talented athletes who are missing a jumper they can't fix.

I would have used one of those picks to move up and draft great value Bane in Knueppel
