This isn't the NFL where mid-late first round picks are extremely valuable. It's much more difficult to hit on a first round pick in the NBA after pick 20 than it is in the NFL.

Just going back to 2010, here are the players that have made an all-star game or all-NBA team from pick 20 through the end of the first round. The Magic clearly don't think they'll be having picks in the top 15 or so. too many of you put too much stock into late first round picks in the NBA.:mjlol:.

Jimmy Butler
Gobert
Siakam
D. Murray
J. Allen
Maxey

That is ALL since 2010, yet many of you are acting like it's common for these late first round picks in the NBA to become all-star and all-NBA caliber players.

the irony is when people take this stance then leave desmond bane out like an all-star ballot is all that matters :mjlol: shyt, pritchard just won 6moty, came out of the same draft class, would've been cheaper for orlando to acquire *and* addresses their PG/shooting issues too

Sure, not being an all-star/all-NBA does not mean that player can't be a valuable piece, but do you really think a team is hitting on four straight #20-30 overall picks? That is incredibly doubtful, and the Magic get an impact player now in an Eastern Conference that should be open next year.

Not saying it's the greatest trade, but four mid-late first round picks in the NBA pale in comparison to mid-late picks in other sports drafts.

quickley came out the same back 20 too. jaden mcdaniels as well. late picks are value and salary freedom.

point is orlando has plenty of holes to fill on that roster and by removing all cap flexibility and picks, they're dramatically reducing the ways that they can fill them with quality players - and this is all while its not even clear paolo/franz/suggs is even gonna work. and the best part about having other teams' picks is that they can do the tanking for you while you keep building lol...

people keep talking like boston being out of it is their cue to go all in but are they even clearly better than detroit with this?

It's not about hitting on mid/late 1st rounders. In a lot of cases, for a team where Orlando is, those picks are valuable to have when trying to acquire proven talent to get them over the hump.

They really believe they have enough right now to get it done. Which is a risk that they had to sign off on to make this trade.

I don't disagree with you, but sometimes you have to go for it. You can only have five players on the floor at any given time, so the value of a single NBA player is going to be more than players in other sports. It's a risk, but when you have a young team, and were able to get rid of KCP and his contract, the Magic feel like it's definitely worth it.

I would ask this for those that say it's a massive overpay. What would you say the Magic should have given up for Bane? People are going to say something like two first round picks, but that's not reality. This isn't NBA 2k.

fukk those picks.

You’re Orlando ..You see the Pacers in the NBA Finals,You know Boston is cooked …You have two all star caliber wings in Paolo and Franz…and depth but you’re missing 1 more guy that can go get a bucket at a high level …

You either trade for Bane or keep drafting nikkas like Jett Howard and Tristan Da Silva .Imma go trade for Bane

fukk those picks
we need a fukk Dem pics meme

they could've got simons, pritchard, coby, sexton, etc for cheaper and potentially filled the pg slot as well.

overpay when you have to. not because your organization has some arbitrary rule about not trading guys during the season and your GM is too shook to even see what the trade/free agent market looks like when other teams get involved.

KCP is washed and the Magic don’t give a shyt about Cole anymore he was out of the rotation most the season.

fukk those mid to late first rounders.

Great deal for Orlando…Bane fits like a glove. I swear people dislike this dude because he’s too buff. :mjlol:

20/6/5 on nearly 50/40/90 last season with above average D and smack dab in his prime.

Highly efficient guards that rebound and assist dont grow on trees. Paolo and Franz gonna be the creators anyway. The Magic are legit contenders with this trade regardless of the price, and that has a lot to do with taking KCP contract.

Memphis has nothing to compete with now.

It’s a 4 game sample size who gives a shyt

Memphis was a play in team going against 68 win OKC #1 ranked defense…they imploded and had fired their coach to use this to try to take away from what dude is capable of is crazy

Plus he’s balled out in the playoffs before
