Yet, you still talking about MJ. Young brehs used to argue about Kobe v Mj. But nobody argues about Kobe being goat anymore.
People use to debate Kareem as the Goat but not nearly as much anymore either.
Thats the real test. Will lebron still be in these arguments 10, 20 years after he retires?
There is always a bit of recency bias to these debates. But for some reason MJ still stays relevant in the topic of convo.

That “Mamba Mentality” is bullshyt he didn’t originate hard work and determination.
You have a right to your opinion. Arguably, to this day, nobody has embodied that more than Kobe did, not even Jordan.

It’s widely known that Kobe’s obsession with personal development & basketball was unparalleled. People got inspired by his dedication and applied it to their daily lives.
I’m not even the biggest Kobe fan anymore, I don’t look at his life or career with rose-colored glasses, but I’m objective enough to admit those things.

Silent Gen was all about KAJ/Wilt/Russell/Big O and maybe The Logo.

Boomers and Gen Xers are MJ stans with honorable mention for Bird & Magic. Kobe getting more love now.

Millenials are split between Bron & MJ. Kobe gets honorable mention, especially for West Coast peoples.

Gen Z and Gen Alpha won't automatically be Team MJ. Probably Bron + ???
Most Boomers belong in the first group but overall this is it.

The generation before doesn't think MJ is the GOAT either. My dad is a boomer(born in 1956) and he has always said the three best players he ever watched play were Kareem/Wilt/Dr. J. he would never say MJ is the GOAT.
Same.

My parents/aunts/uncles were all born between 1944 and 1958. MJ was NOT their dude.

This is mostly Gen X nikkas (ex players & media) hyping their favorite guy.

You're right.

Someone like Obama (1961) might lean towards Jordan, but someone born in 1949 would have a different opinion.

Kinda like Millenials.

A breh born in 1986 might lean Jordan or at least see MJ/Bron as close....while a breh born in 1996 is also a Millenial but never saw MJ play in a Bulls uniform. His first memories are of Bron. '86 breh's earliest memories are of the first 3-peat from MJ.

Even the Obama sub-gen might say something different. Their childhood is Kareem and The Doctor. Jordan did enough to change some of their minds but for comparison that's like me (93) eventually putting Jokic or Shai over Bron. It's possible but unlikely.

I used to give an oldhead rides home from work in my Amazon days...he was a Vietnam vet so he's likely in the '49/early 50s bracket. He said Oscar was the guy...Bill and Wilt was doing what they did but Oscar basically got a P4P nod.

I’m not a Bron Stan.
And I’m not a sneakerhead.

None of it matters.
I’m a lifelong Yankees fan. I don’t own any Yankees apparel or trinkets, either.
It mattered for everyone before Bron so no exceptions. MJ status is not on his radar, I say MJ cause that’s who Bron wants to measure his greatness against. I don’t think MJ cares either way
