I had an ah-ha moment today. I saw a IG clip of Paul George—-on his podcast, not playing basketball—-and my first thought was ‘is he even playing today’

That’s it…that’s the epiphany. The league and its players have conditioned our brains to not know if marquee guys are even playing. And their miscalculation is that fans have time to keep up with load management schedules. I don’t.

So when making a split second decision on whether to watch this game or the NFL or play madden or etc etc etc, most fans’ subconscious is probably telling them ‘you good, xyz aint even playing, catch them in the playoffs’.

But when it cane down to actual entertainment value and performances of the games, the NBA won easily. Both football games were objectively mid while all four Christmas basketball games were excellent, close and competitive.

Casuals and non sports fans probably watched football but basketball fans and real sports fans watched basketball. Beyoncé show alone probably attracted many women to the Texans/ravens game.

I know the nfl is more popular and revelant than the nba. I’m a football fan myself too. But the basketball games were better than the football ones today. That’s it.
