There will be no rule change in 2019 because of the AFC title game between the Patriots and ChiefsWhere was the outcry in 2019? I don't remember people calling for it to change when Mahomes was the one who didn't get to touch the ball.
The ironyAfter losing to the New England Patriots in the 2018 AFC Championship Game, the Kansas City Chiefs proposed a rule change that might have altered the outcome of the contest had it been in place: Kansas City wanted to see the rules governing overtime changed so that both teams’ offenses would have a chance to touch the football.

the NFL stole a lot of shyt from the XFL. There's a reason why they didn't replace the coin flip with this.they should just stop using a coin flip
put the ball in the middle of the field. have each team pick a player and stand one the 10 yard line. team of the player who is fastest in a 40 yd dash to getting the ball is the one who gets it first. that with the current rules is perfect in my opinion. coin flip is wack
its basically a jump ball and would be one of the most exciting things in sports
Sounds nice in theory til it plays out and Mahomes scores a 2nd TD (or worse, a FG). Then everyone will just want the other QB to get another shot.It should be both teams get the ball on offense once and then sudden death....![]()
You have a link to Buffalo sports radio?I turned on Buffalo sports radio cuz I always like to catch a quick listen of what the fans who experience these epic devastating losses are talking about........
and the hosts on WGR are putting a significant amount of blame on "a coin flip" and the OT rules.
GTFOH. There was nothing wrong with the old OT rules either. Win the game in regulation or stop a nosebleed in OT and you don't have to worry about bytching because you called "tails" instead of "heads".

Also gives them the option to go for 2 and win the game which also puts it back in the defense hands. All in all play fukking defense this won’t happenSo if KC scores a TD then Buffalo scores a TD, then KC scores a TD to win it would be fair?
Isn’t that essentially what we saw from the last few minutes of regulation? If the defenses ain’t gonna stop anything, why do we need to see an extra possession?

mfers act like the defense got game genie infinite stamina codesPeople saying the “defense needs to do their job”… I mean they did enough to get to overtime. It’s not like tweaking the OT rules will destroy the game.

No they don't. You might not care about defense but it's part of the game. A defense can force a turnover even score and end a game. Special teams could end a game.NFL overtime rules suck but that's the nature of the game
I agree. One team shouldn't be the only one to touch the ball.
It's like if they only let a baseball team bat for half an inning based on a coin toss. Seems rather unfair.
