Carlos Beltran is one of those guys who, I never really thought he was elite.

He was a really good player, but was he ever in that MVP context the way guys like Bonds/Arod/Ramirez/Cabrera...even hitters like Chipper Jones or Todd Helton...was he ever in that tier?

Not to me.

He's one of those guys that was just really good and the whole of his career numbers deserves election. But I don't LOVE it.

That's how the Hall of Fame is though. Not everyone is Mickey Mantle.
Beltran isn't an egregious choice, but on a weak ballot...

I agree, but that's why Halls suck now. Hall of Famers should be guys when you hear their name and explain them to somebody younger or who never really saw them play, "let me tell you about..."

I'd never do that about Beltran. Andruw Jones, I could make a case for just because he was so fukking good in centerfield and he had a very productive bat the first decade of his career.

That's an insane contract for a guy with an .813 OPS last season and a pretty big gulf between home/away splits.

The man is 5th in Home Runs all time amongst CF and 74 more than Marilyn Monroe's husband.

5th in RBIs. More than Mantle and DiMaggio.

8th in WAR. Not every Hall of Fame centerfielder needs to be Willie Mays or Ken Griffey. There's levels to this shyt. Once again fukk off and have a nice day.

A lot of ppl seemed to have soured on Jett compared to Ewing and Sproat was the one of the 3 who seemed safe to be a major leaguer but somebody had to go.
