No because the NBA was already lining the trade up with the Pelicans getting the first overall in exchange for AD

AD and Zion were never going to play together in NO

AD >>> Zion

It’s similar to what we’re seeing right now with Luka

The NBA forces the Luka trade to Los Angeles and Mavs get gifted back #1 overall for their troubles

They force the AD trade and gift the Pelicans back Zion + 4th overall for their troubles (although the trade happened a few weeks after the draft) that shyt was already lined up bruh

Maybe you don’t wanna believe the league is rigged but the NBA has been making it clear to us for decades that they are a business that needs to sell their product and they’ll use shady tactics to achieve their goals

You kinda proving my point with the Lakers jumping to 4th and trading the pick to NO :mjlol: it’s fukking crazy bruh

:childplease: Man shut up & stop quoting me

Them teams I’ve named ain’t trying to win based on their commitment to mediocrity by continually hiring poor coaches and bad front office decisions

I’m lowkey trolling. Wizards have had success and took swings at competing in the past 10 yrs. Wall injuries and paying Beal hurt the trajectory

But you can’t say from Game 1 of this season that the team was constructed to make the playoffs

Dallas and Philly moving into the top 3 was extremely anticlimactic for the NBA as a whole IMO.

There's no honor in that Lottery shyt. However, the last 2 years Lottery Winners have been Play-In Teams

:jbhmm:

I get the logic.

NBA doesn't want stars toiling away on teams that might need 5+ years to get on track.

They want good players to either get drafted to decent squads (Flagg) or make sure they go to teams uniquely setup to help them with their infrastructure (Wemby, going to SA + their history with foreign players...Yao in HTown with their huge Chinese population).

I struggle with Clayton Jr.'s stock.

He's better than some of these guys who constantly get first round grades like Ben Saraf, but there will be a big man run in the 20's assuming teams stay there.
As the hawks pseudo gm until we sign one. I’m going Clayton at 22. Hopefully we can come away with Clayton and Asa

Yea, but damn some organizations really have to get it out the mud to move up the ranks. Tonight, 2 teams that really self-sabotaged themselves this season getting top 3 picks kills hope if you're one of the organizations needed to pick as high as possible

Mavs had only 1.8% odds to win the draft literary and get the first pick, things that normally should never happen.

And the fact that the actual nba draft lottery is so suspect….I never understood why these drafts are held behind closed doors other than for possible shenanigans. Even the NHL went all out in transparency of doing the ball selections live in public, in front of a live audience . What reason does the NBA have to not have anything for transparency? I guess they have some things to hide? They don’t want to be exposed as a corrupt league and prefer to maintain plausible deniability around the legitimacy and reputation of the league . They want to pretend that the national basketball association is fair and not rigged in advance.

Thats the most shamelessly fixed lottery I have ever seen.

Mavericks get their reward for gifting the Lakers Luka
Spurs get their shooter to pair with Wembanyama
76ers get another crack of relevance as the league badly wants them to be a force in the East.

The Association gave a big :pacspit: to Charlotte, Utah, Washington and Toronto. That’s because You dont move the needle when it comes to media presence and ratings .

Professional sports is a cold and corporate business at the end of the day.

the NBA wants to make it a show by doing it this way.

The suspense of Tatum reading from 14 to 1 >>>>> watching the lotto end in a matter of seconds.
