Charlotte hasn't had a #1 pick in 30 years, league cant complain about the eastern conference being weak while at the same time having a lottery system designed to not help said conference. This whole thing is just silly how are these teams supposed to build without top talent? Nba wonder why ratings is dropping , stupid shyt like this consistently done is why. but you are right, some eastern bottom teams are fukked. Can't sign big names, can't find luck in drafting.
Pistons were bottom east team for a while, they won #1 draft pick to get Cade Cunningham and now look, they actually made the playoffs few years after that. That one draft lottery victory sometimes is what it takes for bad teams to actually become good and build something around that one really great player.

Look at the Pacers for example.
1st draft picks have the highest chances of having a successful career. You can find successful players from various draft picks, but 1st draft picks had the most success:
