TYRONE GA!
So you rather have a league of medicore teams with bad contracts? Confused by this logic

no, at least try to win and if you don't make the playoffs and get in the lottery, it shows you can still get a good pick.

That Hinkie shyt was goofy. Ainge trying it again and failing makes my dikk hard :birdman:

I flat out disagree, id be fine with that if the lottery didn't exist like the nfl . With the lottery existing there is actually zero reason a team should " try to win" because there is no reward for it, look at the wizards. Funny you bring up Philly they openly tanked and was rewarded

the bigger issue Ainge has is 11 of his guys are 25 or younger and none of em look like they're gonna be stars.

He's got Markannen who's been on the load management schedule the last 2 years, Kessler who they've been shopping every offseason, Collins and Sexton who are empty calories and a bunch of randoms and now they're adding 2 more of em.

They're clusterfukk city and not even good. Only thing they got is Will Hardy as a coach. Nets West.

Yup hell look at since 2019

All these guys are stars and all NBA type players when healthy outside of rissacher but I won't be surprised if he's there in a few years.

Word,

1st round pick busts don't happen that often and it's usually in years when talent just sucks.

Those Kwame's, Bargnani's, Olowokandi's and Bennett's happen on a much rare occasion than actually drafting legit star.

the first overall pick simply sells hope.

If you have dreams of winning a title, since the lottery has happened, 4 have won a title (and needed another #1 pick to do it) and only 8 have reached a Finals

Shaq in Orlando
Ewing in NY
Iverson in Philly
Ayton in Phoenix.

Kyrie/LeBron
Robinson/Duncan only #1's with rings with the team that drafted them.

It's the exact reason why cats talking about the lottery being rigged because Mavs won it, would've said the same thing if the Spurs landed it, and they would've said the same thing if the 76ers landed it too.

If the Jazz won the lottery, they would've said the NBA had plans all year to send a white superstar to Utah.
Facts, there wasn’t really gonna be any pleasing anyone with that final 4 we got. This newer lottery system is what people should really have problems with. It’s just not rewarding the dog shyt teams enough

A #1 pick hasn’t won MVP since D Rose in 08

AD is the only #1 pick since to even make an All-NBA 1st team

The last #1 pick to be the best player on an NBA Finals team was Dwight Howard

Statistically those picks are most valuable I agree, but you don’t need the top pick to have a successful rebuild

The draft is a crapshoot based on calculated risks.

I think around the time that they realized the market wasn’t meeting their demands with Kessler or Collins, that’s probably when this whole Ainge thing peaked. They pretty much have to hope the league spoon feeds them Dybantsa or this is was a failure imo

The point is to become a competitive team that actually goes to the playoffs and competes. Championships are hard to win in NBA considering how few franchises like Lakers, Celtics, Bulls, Spurs and Warriors combined won wayyyy over half of NBA championships that's ever existed.

You don’t need the #1 pick to do that which is what other posters point is.

The Brooklyn Nets have 5 of the top 36 picks in the draft yet it feels like they have to pull a miracle out of their ass to get better.

On top of the young guys they already have and we've decided as a basketball community that they gotta punt next year and go for THAT crop of young talent.

Only thing I can give Marks is that he's been in these situations before and can find really good complementary talent. Key word though: complementary

You don't need a 1st pick, but it gives you higher chances...that's what I am trying to tell, lol.

No freaking single draft is going to bring team a championship. I am pretty sure we all agree on that.
